25.01.2022 Balcony repair: This balcony used to have Astro turf on it, that has been stripped back and the glue and leftover residue grinder off (forgot to take photos of the whole deck during that process, oops!) then primed, 2 coats of WPA 230UV and will be finished off with 2 coats of Synpave non-slip and UV stable coating, ready for enjoyment! No tile on this one, so it had to be spot on! Finished photos next week once the non-slip coating goes on.

25.01.2022 The end result of our first time stencilling concrete using WPA Tuffcote. Primed with WPA460 epoxy primer and then finished off with Tuffcote. This turned out really well, the rain didnt help, but once it dried up we could finish it off. Very happy with how this turned out!... All up close to 120m square! Phew!

24.01.2022 Bit of a different one today: Client had to use Acousta Mat underlay as per body corporate request. Being that it was in a wet area, had to be glued in with a two part polyurethane adhesive. The Acoustic underlay is then treated as the substrate, with WPA MS sealant and WPA500 membrane. Came up looking great! #bayset #wpa #wpa500 #wpams

23.01.2022 Not a bad job for a Saturday morning. Did the whole floor in the bathroom and en-suite as a precaution because the owner wants a screenless shower. Both showers have water stops in place, however good practice to do the whole floor as there is no screen trapping the water inside the shower itself.

23.01.2022 So Ive been doing up my own bathroom. Pulled it apart and re-sheeted, plumbing and electrical rough ins done. Ive coated the entire floor as Im removing the bath and having a walk in shower with an open glass panel. Finished photos still to come.

21.01.2022 A little renovation job with Jimmy from Creating your Ideas- Tiling and Building. This is a real estate repair for a clients investment property. The old shower was leaking causing some rot in the old timber frame and sheeting. After stripping the tiles back we came across a small pipe for the waste that just didnt seem right. The concrete was wet and we decided to dig a littler further. After some more investigation we discovered that the old shower was actually a recess...ed shower (the old frame had been built up so it appeared as though it was a standard aluminium hob shower with a frame and screen fitted. Jimmy and I discussed the best way to ensure the shower is fixed properly. There are two options: 1 - Use an epoxy primer over the old, wet bedding to ensure no moisture rises to the surface (which then has the potential to re-emulsify the membrane) and seal in the Streamline water stop angle as per the original plan or; 2 - Remove the old tile bed (essentially just taking a jackhammer to the screed) and removing the old membrane to take it back to the original set up. We decided to remove the old tile bed and start from scratch. We can screed a new tile bed to the height we want, ensuring that the client has a job that is done correctly and not conveniently. At the end of the day, it was more work and has held the job up 1-2 days, however in the future, it will be sealed correctly and for the sake of a couple of days, will save returning to a leaky shower again in a couple of years. 18.01.2022 Its always preferable to pull up exisiting tiles and start fresh, however there are options if this cant be achieved or isnt affordable. Terracotta tiles with WPA160 all purpose/non-porous primer and WPA500 under tile membrane. Got in just before all this rain is supposed to come tomorrow! 17.01.2022 Do you know the difference between your wall sheeting? Plasterboard (or Gyprock) is a standard sheeting used to line your walls after the frame is built, however this is not suitable for wet areas. It is a porous material, meaning that it will soak up water rather than resisting it. This can cause a number of issues, including swelling of the gyprock, which may result in tiles popping off from the wall. Villa board or waterblock villa board is a water resistant sheeting that ...is suitable for wet areas. Ensure you make the right choice when selecting your wall sheeting, otherwise you could be up with trouble in the future! See more

12.01.2022 Recessed shower trays are a great way to have a modern, streamline look. No step into the bathroom or the shower. Its a safe way to tank the shower as the wall/floor junctions are below the walk in floor lever, meaning that the chances of a leak in the junction is slim, if sealed correctly! Interestingly enough, these photos were going to showcase the Streamline water stop angle What you use for a shower is an important choice, there are a few options:... Hebel hob is the old standard; Standard 40 or 50mm polished aluminium is also a popular choice; There is also a recessed shower tray (of which I have already posted potential problems in a previous post); And then there is streamline angle. An elegant upgrade from a Hebel hob shower. Specifically designed to have a bright silver finish and shower screen fit right to it, this option is a little more pricey, but a safe and aesthetically pleasing! Something to keep in mind if youre re-doing your old bathroom, or building a new one!
