22.01.2022 Hey crew. A quick vid and my first impressions of the new Fennix Elite S (carbon/hybrid layup) which I paddled for 22km’s yesterday on the Snapper Run in a mode...rate 18knot SSW in clean, easy, cruisey skates: * Cockpit (I’m 6’4, 100kg, 35 waist) - the seat is nice and snug like my current Elite S which has the original cockpit configuration/dimensions and doesn’t impede my leg drive/rotation. I found it very comfortable and it felt noticeably higher than the footwell, creating good ergonomics for getting over my stroke. It is significantly narrower from the seat through to the bulkhead, with the deck following the same lines all the way through to the nose making for a very sleek bow and eliminating the need for paddle blade cutouts - this looks awesome from the cockpit!! It’s tighter for my calves, but not overly and the footplate is a good width. * Stability - the first thought I had when I jumped in was that it felt very stable, no different to my current Elite S. * Speed/Manoeuvrability - seemed to accelerate better and be more responsive, however I’d need to paddle it in more challenging water and with my DK rudder fitted to assess this fully. * Surfing - this is of course, the key area for me. Very good. Is it better than my current Elite S? I can’t say for sure as the conditions were too easy, but it definitely surfed beautifully!! * Conclusion - I like it alot!! I will need to paddle it in a greater variety of conditions and compare the average speeds to what I’m currently doing, but it certainly looks and feels good. Love ya work @fennkayaks
