16.01.2022 2015 was the year. It was a cool winters evening and I was at my best mate’s house doing our usual Thursday night of table tennis and beers... lots of beers - as Fridays were my ‘day off’. I was in my second year of real estate sales after having been in the airline industry for 20 years. I was a trainer & coordinator at Qantas and had risen to that precarious position of middle management, or as it is known in the corporate world ‘target practice’. Qantas wasn’t doing that g...reat at the time and a restructure was on the cards which meant my level was the first to go. My wife had started in real estate not long after we met in 1993 and was doing pretty well. I figured that if she could do it, I’d smash it! 2014 wasn’t a good time to start a real estate career... Most of you will remember that at that time as soon as you listed a property it was sold! And listings weren’t that hard to get either. Which meant 2014 wasn’t a true reflection of the work and passion that’s required to be a successful agent. I had a phenomenal first year in real estate - but as soon as the listings dried up I wasn’t prepared to get uncomfortable and canvas. I was doing videos with all of my listings and they were a big factor in getting new business. A lot of people would come through home opens and ask if I could sell their home the same way... SURE I CAN . Not long after a few reps in the office asked if I could present property videos on their behalf. They didn’t feel comfortable being on camera but loved the video concept. So I did! And it went really well. Which brings me back to this fateful Thursday evening at my mates house... I was falling out of love with sales but loved the industry and in particular video and presenting. I don’t know whether it was the excessive beer consumption or not, but I was about to step outside my comfort zone... Properth Productions was about to be born... well sort of. This was the initial logo that we drew up that evening... how to make Perth look like Gotham City! Tomorrow: the name, the logo, the colour, the model, the passion.

10.01.2022 What’s in a name? What’s in a logo? What’s in a brand? Everything was thought out about our identity and who we wanted to be right from the start... or so we thought. The best laid plans and ideas seem to always come about during some form of intoxication! My mate and I put down the table tennis paddles, grabbed a notebook and the laptop and off we went on our wayward brainstorming session. To this day we still don’t know which one of us came up with the name Properth, but th...e theory behind it was ingenious! Obviously the business was to be centred around real estate (property) in Perth, property in Perth, Property Perth, PropPerth, Properth! But here’s where the magic started ... imagine 2 pissed idiots when one of us realised what happens when you turn the ‘y’ upside down in property... The ‘y’ becomes a ‘h’ Property becomes Properth!!! Right name sorted now for a logo and font. I’m not a fan of busy logos. I wanted something simple but not too simple... and recognisable so that when anyone thought of video in Perth they would instantly think of Properth... like when you want cola- you want Coke! And the ‘play’ button was a big thing for me. That was the one and only ‘graphical’ element that had to be there... But the most important decision of all - colour. What colour was the logo going to be. My mate grabbed the laptop and started typing away and then asked me a few questions about me and how I wanted the business to be seen by others. He was looking at a marketing colour wheel and what each brand colour meant. My answers to his questions defined the Properth colour choice of orange. Confidence, Friendliness, Success, Creativity, Fun. That was what I wanted it to be and the ‘baby was born’!! Obviously the Gotham logo from yesterday didn’t make the final cut, but this one has served us well until we decided on a change this year. Tomorrow: the past, the present and the future
