Tenants need to be assured that their funds they hand over are safe and secure.

12.01.2022 Penalty for this subsection: a fine of $5 000. A lessor (owner/ landlord) must, within 7 days after a tenant has entered into occupation of residential premises under a residential tenancy agreement (a) prepare a report describing the condition of the premises; and (b) provide 2 copies of the report to the tenant. The requirement to have a property condition report at the commencement of the tenancy applies to residential tenancy agreements where the tenant enters into occupation of the premises after 1 July 2013.
