24.01.2022 9 April 2020 Dear Family, Visitors, Health Practitioners, Volunteers and Tradesman RE: Flu vaccine 2020 - Regulatory Compliance As the COVID-19 coronavirus situation evolves, we are committed to implementing all possible methods to prevent the spread of illness in our facility and to protect our residents, staff and the wider community.... We also want to ensure that we are complying with all new government guidelines and legislation enacted in relation to COVID-19including direction that from 1 May 2020 all staff, family, visitors, health practitioners, volunteers and tradesman working or visiting in residential aged care facilities must be up-to-date with their annual flu vaccination. The Chief Medical Officer has advised that the only absolute contraindication to flu vaccination is a history of previous anaphylaxis following vaccination, those who have had Guillain-Barré Syndrome following previous flu vaccination and people on check point inhibitor drugs for cancer treatment. People who suffer from egg allergiesunless they have anaphylaxiscan be safely immunised. A letter from your GP shall be required, for any of the above reasons, not to have a flu vaccination. Each State and Territory now has legislation in place to require and enforce this which means that everyone entering a residential aged care facility (except those with a medical reason as indicated by the Chief Medical Officer) is required to have the annual flu vaccination by 30 April 2020. For compliance, the facility is required to maintain a register, please provide us with documentation of your flu vaccination from your GP or your local pharmacy. If you have questions or concerns in relation to this letter, please contact Troy Smith at 07 4945 2666 or [email protected]. Regards Troy Smith General Manager

08.01.2022 6 May 2020 Dear Residents, Relatives, Representatives, Visitors and Staff RE: Mother’s Day Visiting Hours... This Sunday, 10th May, is Mother’s Day and Proserpine Nursing Home will allow family/visitors during the hours of 10am to 4pm. Family/Visitors must still present to the Administration Office for screening and abide by the government guidelines. To reduce the risk of transmission Proserpine Nursing home has implemented the following as recommended by the government. Limiting visits to a short duration two (2) hours maximum Limiting visits to a maximum of two (2) visitors at one time per day. This includes immediate social supports (family members, close friends) or professional service or advocacy Visits should be conducted in a resident’s room, outdoors, or in a specific area designated by the Facility, rather than communal areas where the risk of transmission to residents is greater No large group visits or gathering, including social activities or entertainment, should be permitted at this time No school groups of any size Practise Social distancing where possible, including maintaining a distance of 1.5 mtrs Please try to coordinate with other family/visitors in regards to who is visiting and when, due to the guideline - two (2) visitors at one time per day. Proserpine Nursing Home will regrettably have to refuse entry if the resident has all ready seen two (2) visitors that day. Entry will not be allowed if you have not given evidence of your flu vaccination or exemption letter from your Doctor. The office staff are working through the huge amount of flu vaccination records to update the register and make your proof of vaccination card or exemption card. If you have been given this card, please bring to save time in checking the register. We thank you again for your cooperation and support. If you have questions or concerns in relation to this letter, please contact Troy Smith at 07 4945 2666 or [email protected]. Regards Troy Smith General Manager

07.01.2022 Broken promises from the Government once again. We told our workforce they would get the aged care retention bonus tax free. Now the Government has back flipped on it and will tax it. Plus they don’t recognise our cleaning and catering staff as staff that qualify for the bonus. The very people that attended work at there own risk of COVID 19 and work tirelessly with passion to help and protect or Residents. ... Shame on you Mr Richard Colbeck. You really don’t understand or appreciate the aged care sector and staff. See more

To comply with the new legislation regarding flu vaccinations and to continue to protect our residents from the risk of COVID-19, Family and Visitors must still present to the administration office to answer screening questions. Due to the need for screening we will continue with the same visiting hours, (remembering this Friday, 19th June, is a Public Holiday). Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 4.00 pm Weekends and Public Holidays 2.00 pm to 4.30 pm As per guidelines the only exemption outside these times are for family and visitors who are providing care and end-of-life support.
