25.01.2022 Proserpine Lions and Lionesses, hard at work feeding a never-ending crowd at the Rotary Christmas Fair on Friday night. It was a great night with a lovely crowd in good spirits. Many thanks to Rotary for organizing the Christmas Fair.

24.01.2022 Another amazing Youth of the Year night was held on Wednesday this past week. Interviews were held on Monday night and speeches on Wednesday. Once again a wonderful group of young people entered and we are thankful to have spent some time with them. Their speech topics and areas of interest were far ranging but they all had several things in common; these young people were all focused, considerate, well mannered and a joy to spend time with. We wish them all the best in w...hatever they choose to do - and we have great faith in each and every one on them. The steps for Lions Youth of The Year are: Application - this is a multipage document where students submit information about their academic, sporting and community involvement. An interview. Final - Where they are asked 2 impromptu questions and then present a 5 minute speech. The 2 impromptu questions were: Respect - "What does this word mean to you?" And "Stress is a large part of our lives today, what strategies do you use in a stressful situation to build up resilience?"

22.01.2022 Our Club level Lions Youth of the Year was held this week with another amazing group of young people contesting this year. This year's winner was Bella Pini. Bella won both the Public Speaking Award and the Overall Winner. The topic of Bella's speech was "Climate Change Refugees" where she spoke about the Pacific Islands and how people are losing their homes because of the rising sea levels. Bella spoke with great confidence. She will next represent Proserpine Lions at the Zone Final in Collinsville on March 15th. Congratulations, Bella and we are extremely proud to be represented by you!

18.01.2022 Just back from the PSHS Awards Night! It was a great night; beautifully run and wonderful to see such talented students and hear such pride in their school. We were proud to be involved to a small degree with our sponsorship of the Yr 12 Marine Science Award, won this year by Hannah List. Congratulations Hannah! There were so many students who were recognized for academic, sporting, cultural and social accomplishments tonight. It was wonderful to see. Lovely to see the familiar faces from Lions Youth of the Year gaining recognition too; congratulations to Taylor, Jonathon, Mila and Sebastian, also to the boys from the Optiminds team - congratulations Ethan, Rylee, Oscar and Mac.

12.01.2022 It is with the deepest regret that we farewell our honorary member, Ted Milne. Ted has been a member of our club for 19 years since joining in 2001. He will be sorely missed in our club and our community. Ted was an active club member, especially with the weekly GooseClub, even in his latter years. That smile and that heart will be missed.

09.01.2022 Join the challenge of posting a picture of somewhere you've been, where the main requirement is that you NOT appear in it. Just a picture, no description. The goal is to flood profiles with landscape photos to give a twist on the situation we're going through. Copy the text to your status, post a photo and let's travel virtually around the world. (it's a little different for a Lions post but I figure its a community service of the mental health sort; enjoy rummaging through those photos!)

09.01.2022 Your bushfire donations are already being put to good use! Read the update about how funds have been dispersed. Thanks to those who've already given. Where there's a need, there's a Lion.

07.01.2022 UPDATE: OUR SCHEDULED SAUSAGE SIZZLE THIS MONTH HAS BEEN RAINED OUT. HOPE TO SEE NEXT MONTH: 29th MARCH. :) From little things, big things grow. How does a single sausage sizzle on a Sunday morning in Proserpine change someone's world? Proserpine Lions Club is participating (every month on the last Sunday) in the Lions Biggest BBQ. Every single $ raised goes to ALCCRF - Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation. No overheads, no money held back - every dollar you pay or donate goes into research. You CAN make a difference! See you on Sunday for a sausage - or just to put a $ in the tin if you're not a sausage fan. Put a smile on the face of a family dealing with childhood cancer.

07.01.2022 COVID-19 means that the Proserpine Lions Club is in recess at the moment, publicly. We meet by phone when required. We look forward to being back in action in the community when possible. Meantime, be safe and look after each other. Remember how well we looked after each during TC Debbie, and be sure to check in on friends and neighbours.

06.01.2022 We are looking for a new camp manager AND assistant relief manager. Could this be you?

06.01.2022 Proserpine Lions were proud to be represented by Bella Pini at the Zones final for Youth of the Year, held in Collinsville today. Bella won the Public Speaking award with her speech "Climate Change Refugees." Great job, Bella! Congratulations!

06.01.2022 Team Rubicon; they worked from daylight to dark and still kept those great smiles day after day when they came to help after Debbie - and they are at it again. If you are looking to donate for bushfire assistance, they surely do help...

05.01.2022 Once again we are proud to be supporting the PSHS Optiminds Science and Engineering team; Oscar Hill, Riley Stuchbree, Mac Rogers and Ethan Raiteri. They came to our meeting to present their Zone entry which was super-impressive and left us in awe - of it and them! The boys are in Brisbane this weekend for the Opti-Minds State and Australian Finals at the University of Queensland. We wish you well boys! Enjoy your challenge and learn even more.

04.01.2022 With Australia currently facing what could be its worst bushfire crises in history, Lions Clubs are rallying together to support those affected. Lions across t...he country have been out in full force in their communities this week. And when disaster strikes, the Australian Lions Foundation is focused on getting emergency support to communities in need as quickly as possible. Right now, residents across NSW and QLD need our help, says Foundation Chairperson Tony Benbow OAM. Australians looking to make a donation and support those affected by the bushfires can do so through their local Lions Club or through donating directly to Australian Lions Foundation. Every dollar will go directly to supporting those affected and donations over $2 are tax deductable. To make a donation visit http://www.alf.lions.org.au/ and select the GiveNow link. https://www.givenow.com.au/australianlionsfoundation All donations over $2 are tax deductible. #LionsAustralia #LionsWeServe See more
