17.01.2022 A year ago today, our hearts were broken with the loss of two of our volunteers - Deputy Captain Geoffrey Keaton and firefighter Andrew O’Dwyer. The two young d...ads from the Horsley Park Rural Fire Brigade were tragically killed when a tree hit the fire truck they were in at Buxton, south-west of Sydney. Today, many of our members will take a moment for quiet reflection, to give thanks and remember. Sadly, Geoff and Andrew were two of four NSW RFS members who lost their lives last season and we will mark the anniversary of the loss of Sam McPaul and Colin Burns in the days ahead. And we will also remember the lives of the three American aircrew who died when a Large Air Tanker crashed in January. While we reflect on the terrible loss, including for members of the community, we are also grateful for the support, friendship and camaraderie shown over the last year, in such a difficult time for so many people. Days like this are tough and support is available. Lifeline 13 11 14 Beyond Blue 1300 22 4636 For NSW RFS members, you can contact the Critical Incident Support Services Team or the Member Assistance Program for free support.
