25.01.2022 Tomorrow is my first official day back at my HR job after maternity leave (other than training last week). I feel like Im walking into the first day at a new job or first day at school! I fear Ive forgotten all of the policies, and I know Ill be on the phone to IT most of the day for forgetting all of my passwords #sendhelp #alsosendcoffee Who else has been here before? How did you go, did it all come back to you like you had never left?

22.01.2022 Busy day on the laptop! Ive been working on some super useful free content for you to coincide with the upcoming website launch which I cant wait to share with you (and lets be honest, who doesnt love a freebie ) so keep an eye out in the coming weeks for that! Then tonight Im looking at a resume and selection criteria for a client. Are you most productive during the day or at night? I always used to be a morning person and would do uni homework for a few hours in the morning before work, but after having a baby, early mornings kill me Now I dont have the leisure of choosing when to be productive, I just get it done at any opportunity that the baby sleeps and make it work!

20.01.2022 We are live! @madewithjade has done a phenomenal job creating this website and Im so happy with the result. Check it out at https://prospectresumes.com.au/ or click the link in bio to see how we can help you. If anyone needs any graphic design services I wholeheartedly recommend this talented lady! Remember to enter the launch comp on my earlier post!

20.01.2022 If you've read any of my blog posts you'll see that I bang on quite a bit about how important it is to tailor your resume and cover letter to the job application. You might be thinking: tailor them how exactly? It's quite simple really. What I do is copy the job advertisement or role description into a word document and physically highlight the keywords, skills required, and duties so I can hone in on the important parts and not be bogged down by all the filler stuff. I the...n open another blank word document and type out a mind dump / brain storm of skills, experience, examples, abilities that can be categorised under the keywords I've highlighted. It's a really helpful starting point to visualise and match yourself to what they are looking for. If the thought of doing this is still overwhelming to you, then outsource it to a professional, like me, who does this stuff for a living!

20.01.2022 Yay! Love hearing about results from happy clients.

19.01.2022 Hi there! Ive been super slack on my socials (in fact its been over a year since Ive posted here! ) But during that time Ive been busily working away continuing to assist clients and also expanding my family! With that being said, even though these little baby feet are now nearly 6 months old, its time for me to have a proper break and take some (delayed) maternity leave and prepare for our seachange to the Sunshine Coast later this year. Therefore, I wont be taking on any clients during this hiatus, but Ill let you know when Im back up and running again in the future. Thanks for your support!

18.01.2022 Hi everyone! Sorry Ive been too busy to post much lately, so for all my new followers and clients and those who dont know me IRL, its probably about time I introduce myself properly to you! This is me: Emma - wife, mother of a one year old daughter, creator of the one-woman show that is Prospect Resumes, and Senior HR Consultant for a Government agency in my other job. Im addicted to traveling and love that this portable #sidehustle can come with me wherever I go so l...ong as theres internet. I spend a LOT of time traveling back and forth Brisbane // Sunshine Coast; if youve done this drive I can tell you #uselessfact there are 99 chevrons on the southbound lane why theres not 100 hurts my brain a little bit. Although many of my clients are Bris or SC based, the beauty of being an #onlinebiz means I can and do work with clients from all over the place. So why engage a resume writer like me? You dont have the time to put effort into a job application when youre already working hard full-time or raising a family. Financially its smarter to outsource to a professional who does this stuff for a living, comparatively to the hours it would cost you to do it yourself. Personally I take the view, "you cant be great at everything"; outsource tasks that you can, so you can spend more energy doing the things you enjoy or that brings a return. Your previous applications arent getting call backs and you need an insiders perspective of why that is. You are a hands-on type of person and writing is not your strong point. You struggle to talk yourself up. I get that - its easier to speak glowingly of others than it is yourself. Youve been out of the workforce for a while, maybe being a stay at home parent, and lack the confidence to get back into the competitive employment market. If you identify with any of these problems, please get in touch and Ill take the stress out of it for you. See more

14.01.2022 It can be hard sitting down to write a new resume or do a job application, especially when there's a tight deadline / closing date and you've got writer's block. Something that can help alleviate this stress is by keeping some notes throughout your working life of successful projects or achievements or any training/upskilling you've undertaken. Just add to the list once per quarter or a couple of times a year, even make a list in the notes section of your phone if that's easier, and you'll see that the next time you sit down to write a job application you've got a great list of examples you can talk about. Now you won't be sitting there struggling to remember what you've done and where to start! #TopTipTuesday

02.01.2022 MELANIE MULLOY! My husband drew the lucky winner out of his work hat this evening Thankyou so much to everyone who entered and shared as part of the website launch festivities (have a look if you havent already)!

01.01.2022 Im excited for this week! Im participating in a week long free course by @iam_tarahewson all about building a #VA biz. For those that dont know, a VA is a Virtual Assistant, where businesses from solo operators to large companies outsource work or specific tasks to a professional VAs who can be located anywhere. The work can be anything: admin, reception, book-keeping, event planning, copywriting, social media marketing, email marketing, SEO and web design - the possibili...ties really are endless! There are heaps of free or low cost courses or training options out there and I love learning new skills, Ive already participated in quite a few this year (thanks Facebook targeted ads ). A lot of mums ask what can they do about gaps in their resume where theyve taken time out of the workforce to raise children and webinars / courses are just one of the things you can do to improve your prospects. It shows employers that you are remaining current and upskilling, and the things youve learnt could be transferable, and a valued, sought after skill that employer might be looking for. #MondayMotivation #ProspectTips See more
