18.01.2022 Pleased City of Prospect is with East Waste! Setting the record straight about Four Corners airing an American story about plastic recycling history and issues from America. The story reflects a situation occurring in America and doesnt reflect what is occurring here in South Australia and Australia, which is a much more positive one! The majority of plastics collected by East Waste from kerbside recycling bins is predominately recycled right here in Adelaide.

07.01.2022 Keep on recycling & reducing your use of plastic even though Plastic Free July is nearly over! At my Prospect SA Living Smart course last night -some reminders: As small items and/or flat items are difficult to retrieve at the materials recovery facility it is best to collect them together inside a larger container of the same material before placing them in the recycle bin. Small plastic items, bread tags, lids as well as flat container lids; takeaway container lids, marg...arine, butter, yoghurt or ice-cream lids should be collected in a plastic bottle preferably clear (PET) bottle or plastic milk bottle. This will be collected and recycled as a mixed plastic. Ignore the numbers and apply the scrunch test ie if the plastic container is rigid and cant be scrunched or pops back into shape after it is scrunched, it can go in the recycling bin. The Australasian Recycling Label provides more information on what and how different parts of packaging can be recycled or if it cant be recycled: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYVfA8mGJYg #PlasticFreeJuly #ProspectLivingSmart #CityofProspect See more

02.01.2022 Please sign and share this petition to ask major Australian coffee chains to ditch their reusable cup ban. While some cafes around Australia have moved to accept reusables again, most major cafe chains have not.Single-use plastic is not inherently safer than reusables, and causes additional public health concerns once it is discarded. - Where possible , cafes should be encouraged to use a contact-free system for customers personal bags and cups.
