We thought that the Launceston community deserved a high standard of care and a practice that suited the community instead of the other way around. We were the first practice to open Saturdays and late nights! 2. We wanted to form long-term relationships and to always give our patients informed options in choosing what they wanted to do moving forward. 3. And we wanted a practice that passes no judgement when a patient walks in and hasnt been to a dentist for perhaps 5, 15 or 25 years, because were simply there to genuinely help. 22.01.2022 WARNING This could have turned out so horribly and its great that Caitlin got treated just in time! Wisdom teeth infections can be LIFE THREATENING and it is so important to seek help early before things take a turn for the worse! This is especially so as we get to Christmas where many dental practices might be closed! ... Not many things in can kill but Ludwigs Angina is one of them. It occurs when a tooth infection spreads down the neck and causes it to swell up. As it does the airway closes up and the patient basically suffocates to death. Things to take note of with Ludwigs Angina (What Caitlin had) Swelling on both sides of the neck A feeling of being suffocated Slurring of speech Swelling in the floor of the mouth The tongue being pushed to the roof of the mouth If you are trying to seek help and are unable to get into a dentist its very important to present to the LGH Emergency Department to get immediate help The best thing to do though is not to wait until it gets an infection and to see a dentist with a lot of experience managing wisdom teeth issues or a specialist oral surgeon to get any wisdom teeth infections managed properly Please share this with the community as i would hate for anyone to have to lose a life over something that is so preventable! 22.01.2022 Since opening in late 2015 we have had a whole heap of growth and its all thanks to our wonderful team and patients who have been happy to give us a go and thereafter refer other patients to our practice. Weve always worked hard to accomodate the number of patients that we have had and in September 2017 we merged what was then Dr Emanuel Oczkos practice to ours and took over the premises at 99 Canning Street. In that time we have managed to fill that practice now and we ar...e close to being at capacity as well. We are now building a brand new, purpose-built facility which will allow us to bring our vision of what great dentistry looks like to Launceston and it will have great equipment, heaps of parking and a very central location (we hear you, patients from Newnham and Mowbray!!) The building is situated along Bathurst Street where the Polish Hall used to be and to took us a long time to get to where it is today as it was an old old building and there was a lot of work that we needed to do even before getting to this stage! Almost five years ago, Dr Bing and I moved to Launceston with nothing more than our belongings and a very big dream - To bring world class Dentistry and service to the Launceston community. We had long thought about somewhere regional to settle and had looked at places in regional NSW before settling for Launceston after a road trip here back in 2014. Five years later we are loving it here and are now raising our little son in this city we now call home. It started off with just the both of us. To date, our team has served over 15,000 patients from Launceston and surrounds in our practices, something we would never have imagined for a relatively new practice. We brought new techniques and technologies to serve the Launceston community such as Launcestons first CEREC same day crown scanner and mill, and an in-house 3D X-ray machine. We absolutely love our Prospect location, and certainly did not expect to outgrow our practice so quickly. These days you will find Dr Bing and I splitting our time between both Prospect Family Dental and our Launceston practice, Innova Dental alongside our incredible team of clinicians and support staff. Innova Dental opened its doors to patients in January this year. Its been great to see many of our wonderful and loyal patients from Prospect at Innova as well. With 8 treatment rooms, a purpose-built in-house lab, space to house more of Dr Bings gadgets - another two CEREC crown scanners and mills, another 3D cone beam machine, a 3D printer amongst other things - we can now offer a broader range of dental services. Just ask us! We are also very proud to be offering Launcestons first fully integrated guided implants. Reduced appointment time, more accurate dental implant placement, more predictable results. 17.01.2022 ||TAKING CARE OF OUR TEAM|| It has been reported that up to 89% of dentists practicing in Australia have reported some sort of neck/shoulder/back/hip pain and given the amount of time our entire team spend sitting down crouched in weird positions to get to different areas of the mouth it is so important that we take care of our body. We have the vision to be the most admired dental practice in Tasmania and part of this is a commitment to take the best care of our valuable te...am members . As part of that, I flew a nationally recognised expert in ergonomics in the dental practice to give us a masterclass in our Canning Street practice on how to sit and operate in a way that takes care of our body. Our team learned so much and it was great to see everyone being super engaged We also had a couple of wonderful grazing boxes supplied by Just Grazing Boxes and our team loved them! 12.01.2022 When we say we hand craft a same-day, ceramic crown, we mean it! Every step is essential to ensure an outcome which looks great, feels great and lasts a long time. This was Dr Fay applying the final touches to the crown after it came out of the furnace before we glue it onto the tooth. We are always very proud to show our patients how the whole process goes!! 11.01.2022 You might have seen Dr Fay walking around with a belly recently and Im so proud to say that we are now parents of little Elliott! He came way early so I had to reschedule some patients but how can you take your eyes away from this little cutie!!! Mum and Bub are both doing very well and its going to be one exciting ride.
