24.01.2022 Holding a Pink Morning Tea this morning in support of McGrath Foundation

22.01.2022 How do you keep your health on track at a time like this? Now, more than ever, it’s important to keep your health and wellbeing on track. Your GP and health services are still there for you, so there’s no need to put off or miss medical appointments, or ignore symptoms during isolation.... The best thing to do is just call your GP or usual health service and ask their advice.

20.01.2022 With the continuing growth in the outbreak of Covid-19 (Corona) Virus Prospect Medical Centre will endeavour to ensure we can provide the best level of care to all of our patients. It is important that all patients continue to seek the medical assistance they require and to manage their health needs. To assist in this process, as patients contact the practice our staff will ask about any recent travel you may have taken and assess your medical needs so you can be booked appr...opriately. This will also enable us to ensure we can continue to afford a level of protection for all our patients and staff. You will still be able to request scripts and ongoing referrals online but we have suspended our online booking system. When you attend the practice you may be asked to remain in your car until your Dr can see you and you will need to put on a mask before entering the practice. Some patients at risk who need to be assessed will be seen in an infection control room located in a separate building where they will be assessed by their Dr and advised on any further actions required. In some circumstances you may be asked to isolate yourself and contact the Public Health Helpline 1800 671 738. These arrangements are in place to benefit the health and well-being of all and your cooperation is greatly appreciated. There are guidelines on how to manage people who may be at risk of having contracted the virus. For information on the current Public Health guidelines can be found by clicking on this link: https://www.health.tas.gov.au/news/2020/coronavirus_update

19.01.2022 Annual influenza vaccination is the most important way to prevent influenza and its complications. In 2019, influenza vaccines are provided free through the National Immunisation Program. The following groups are eligible due to their increased risk of complications from influenza: * all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over... * pregnant women (during any stage of pregnancy) * all people aged 65 years and over * people aged six months and over with medical conditions which increase the risk of influenza disease complications In 2019, four age-specific quadrivalent influenza vaccines will be available for people aged under 65 years. For those aged 65 years and over, an enhanced trivalent vaccine will be available. It important to get the influenza vaccine each year, as the virus changes each year. Getting the vaccine from April will provide protection before the peak influenza period, from around June to September in most parts of Australia. Influenza vaccines are available from GPs, community health clinics, Aboriginal Medical Services or other immunisation providers in your state or territory. If you are unsure if you qualify for the free vaccination discuss it with your Doctor at your next visit.

16.01.2022 With the coronavirus (COVID-19) circulating, vaccinating for the flu is more important than ever to help reduce the burden on our health system. Last week the ...GDS team and their families were vaccinated for this years Flu season. It's not protection against COVID-19 - but it protects you from known viruses so you don't get sick and take up medical resources for those that do. So everyone out there get yourselves organised and get down to your local chemist or GP and have your flu jab Thanks go to the team at Prospect Medical Centre for organising an on site visit to get all our 'GDS Family' sorted

10.01.2022 Prospect Medical Centre is currently without our normal landline phones. We are endeavouring to deal with calls by diverting to a mobile service. This has greatly reduced our capacity to deal with patient calls. Please bear with us whilst we wait for Telstra to restore services.
