04.02.2022 Notice of Annual General Meeting The Annual General Meeting of U3A Bendigo Inc. will be held on Wednesday, 26 August 2020, commencing at 1:00 p.m. Due to the implementation of COVID-19 stage 3 restrictions, members are invited to join the meeting via a Zoom teleconference. U3A Bendigo is legally obliged by Consumer Affairs Victoria to hold its AGM within five months following the end of its last financial year, i.e. 31 December 2019. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the Committee... of Management sought and was granted a three-month extension. The AGM must be held by 31 August 2020. As COVID-19 restrictions prevent a quorum of 59 members to physically attend, the Committee encourages members to attend via Zoom or to appoint a proxy by completing the U3A Bendigo Appointment of Proxy Form. Proxy forms can be mailed to The Secretary, U3A Bendigo, PO Box 774, Bendigo 3552 or emailed to [email protected]. Members wishing to join the Zoom meeting, are asked to email [email protected] or phone 0490 858 469, so they can be sent a Zoom meeting invitation. Members unable to join the Zoom meeting may email an apology to [email protected]. Members are encouraged to nominate themselves, or another member with their permission, as an office bearer or as a member of the Committee of Management. Nominations can be made by completing an Election Nomination Form and returning either by post to The Secretary, U3A Bendigo, PO Box 774, Bendigo 3552, or email to [email protected]. Nominations will be accepted by phone or text to 0490 858 469 up until 1:00 p.m. on 26 August 2020. The Appointment of Proxy Form and Election Nomination Form can be downloaded from the U3A Bendigo website: http://u3abendigo.com On behalf of the Committee of Management. 22.01.2022 Get Moving with U3A Bendigo.

19.01.2022 Your Committee of Management (CoM) have authorised our Walking Groups, the Art Groups, Chess and the RUGs Book Club to re-start their activities from June. U3A Bendigo insurance is re-instated for those groups. If possible other small groups may apply to CoM to restart their activities in members' homes, acting in conjunction with the Protocols below. U3A Bendigo facilities at St Mary’s remain closed, as under the State of Emergency Directives (Law) we cannot participate in... activities indoors. Hopefully more of Victoria's restrictions will be lifted from 21/22 June and yet more from 12/13 July. The modified Protocols developed for you by CoM are: Protocols for U3A Bendigo Members as Part of Our COVID-19-Safe Plan: Be aware of your underlying health issues and ask yourself "am I at a greater risk if I attend an activity at the moment?" Maintain social distancing of 1.5 metres. Use good hygiene practices by washing your hands and using sanitizer. Car-pooling is not permitted until further notice. Outdoor group activities are limited to 20 participants in stage two and up to 50 in stage three. U3A indoor activities are not allowed in stage two. Subject to an announcement by the Premier on 21 June, indoor physical recreation will be allowed in stage three, with up to 20 people allowed per separate enclosed space, subject to the four square metre rule. Stage three allows sport and exercise activities if you can keep your distance (at least 1.5 metres apart) and if they are not competitive. All indoor venues will need to abide by existing physical distancing requirements of one person per four square metres. Most of U3A’s outdoor walking groups have recommenced and several smaller groups have begun meeting at members’ homes and in other places where allowed. Other groups have continued to catch up via email, phone calls and online Zoom meetings. For more information about U3A including the activities you can be involved in, or how to become a member please read the online August edition of the BUZZ, our monthly newsletter and our Prospectus. All activity participants still have to physical distance themselves and observe any other rules that are in place. Please contact the Convenor of your group to find out what's happening. Thank you.

15.01.2022 Beautiful pictures from one of our Walking Groups. Thank you and great to see you in action again all.

14.01.2022 Since easing of restrictions the Musical Instruments Group are once again meeting face to face in a large, safe space. "Our weeks meeting up on Zoom were great. Zoom gave us the opportunity to meet weekly as usual, to chat and play music together, though each of us were in our own homes. Nothing can compare with playing music together in one space, but Zoom was a welcome next best thing!!"

08.01.2022 Friday 8 May we're told that there will be some announcements on possible lessening of COVID-19 restrictions and Monday 11 May (I think is when State of Emergency ends or gets an extension.) Hopefully out of all that there may be some good news on Monday. We will advise U3A Bendigo members on anything that is relevant to them U3A Bendigo-wise. Tell us how you are going, what have you been doing/focusing on? Found any new hobbies? Used any new (to you) social platforms to keep in touch with friends or family? Written that book yet, or got back to that family tree? Love to hear ......... Hope you and yours are all safe and virus-free.

03.01.2022 We wish all our members a very happy Easter. It'll be quite different for all of us this year, so if you're feeling a bit lonely, rest assured we are thinking of you!! Let's hope it won't be too long before we get back to U3A Bendigo activities.
