Cats are classified as 'true carnivores' due to the design of their gut metabolism. They have a short gut and limited capacity to digest vegetables. Dogs are classified as omnivores and have a relatively greater capacity to digest fibre. St...archy vegetables such as potatoes should be fed in limted amounts. Spinach is a healthy option but high in oxalate which will chelate calcium and may predispose to urinary calculi so should be limited. Onions and avocado should not be included in the diet.
