This means making sure you are claiming all of the deductions to which you are entitled. Here are some top tips to ensure you are able to make the most of the EOFY:... Keep thorough and accurate records of all expenditure associated with your investment property , e.g., invoices, receipts, bank statements, etc. If any documentation is missing, now is the time to get hold of a copy. Provide evidence of the periods that your property was vacant but was still available to be rented, e.g., rental listings, etc. If Covid-19 has affected or reduced your rental income but has not impacted the costs you incurred on your investment property, you can still claim these expenses as normal. If you agreed to defer a tenant’s payments due to Covid-19, back payments will only become taxable once they have been received.
