Targeted radioactive treatment, often referred to as 'Theranostics', is a relatively new branch of oncology and research is ongoing. 07.01.2022 An interesting study recently published in the Journal of Urology about the trade-offs men with localised prostate cancer will accept between active surveillance or definitive treatment. One finding from the study was that men with low-intermediate risk disease were willing to trade a 6.99% absolute decrease in survival to have active surveillance over definitive therapy. If you're not sure what your treatment options mean and are feeling a bit overwhelmed, a chat with Julie, our prostate cancer specialist nurse, can make a difference. To make an appointment: 9400 6202 or [email protected]

06.01.2022 Scientists have developed a simple blood test that can show which men with the most aggressive type of prostate cancer should respond to conventional therapy, and those who need other options. The research has recently been published, and these kinds of tests in may provide another tool for oncologists once they become readily available.

06.01.2022 A study presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2020 meeting has investigated the hereditary risk of prostate cancer. It found that the greatest relative risk for all prostate cancer subtypes combined was found in men with a family history of hereditary prostate cancer, followed by men with a history of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer and Lynch syndrome. If you, or a family member is concerned about your hereditary risk, speak to your GP or specialist.
