24.01.2022 Why a rack and not a proper power steering set-up?

24.01.2022 June 3 and it seems that not much as been happening, BUT, I have had my first batch of pitman arms made and they are at a machine shop having the pitman arm splines cut. Then it's off for heat treatment and then assembly into the new housings. Hopefully there will be a finished product by the end of June. This first batch will be for the HKTG Holdens, then I'm having a batch made for the Valiants. After that, the Ford guys will get the spotlight. Keep watching, I will post more regularly now that something is actually happening. Cheers.

23.01.2022 New post June 25 2020. I picked up my Holden HKTG sector shafts from the machinist two weeks ago and dropped them off at another factory to have the splines cut on them. last Friday I picked them up and dropped them off at the heat treatment factory. I hope to have them before July 1. Then there is the housings. They have been cast and I was told that they will be machined in mid July. If that happens, then I will be able to put them together and have them ready before the end of July. Fingers crossed.

23.01.2022 Time for an update. I just got back from the USA where I joined the Corvette Caravan out of Seattle to Bowling Green KY. After that, a trip to Borgeson in South Carolina for some business talks and I had a tour over their new factory. I was told about some upcoming developments that will be real eye-openers in the steering world, so watch this space. On the local scene, I dropped in to the pattern maker to check on the progress of the pattern I am having made for the HK-HG H...olden. This will be used to manufacture a modern integral power steering box for these cars, wagons, panel vans and utes. No more searching for Datsun 260C steering boxes which require modifications to the box and chassis for fitment. The PRO STEER DOWN UNDER box will bolt straight in and use the OEM Holden pitman arm, so there will be no changes to your tie rods, idler arm, steering arms, drag links, etc. With a much tighter 14:1 ratio, these boxes will make your HK-HG steer like a modern car. I hope to have the box finished by the end of the month and have some castings made in October. Watch this space. See more

21.01.2022 Hi guys and girls, I'd like to join this great group. I live in Bayside and have two 1974 Corvettes, a coupe and a convertible. I am also the Australian Distrib...utor for Borgeson power steering boxes and have one fitted to my coupe. I have sold quite a few of them and can assure you that they make a huge improvement in the handling of your car. Feel free to call me and we can talk about an upgrade for your car or just general questions on Corvette steering. John Smith. See more

18.01.2022 Me doing what I do best.

18.01.2022 Hi there, time for an update. Well, thanks to covid-19, my suppliers have slowed down somewhat. The machine shop is working only 2-3 days per week. However, I have had ten HKTG Holden boxes cast and ten sector shafts were just delivered from the heat treatment factory. They just need to be cleaned up and will be ready to fit. The stumbling block now is the seals. I purchased some rather pricey high pressure seals that are giving me grief trying to fit and not have them leak. I am now looking at a different manufacturer and have fitted one of their seals to a Pro Steer power box for a 1963 Ford Compact Fairlane and it works perfectly with no leaks. Hooray!!! We will fit this up next week. Photos soon. Cheers.

16.01.2022 Hello, it has been a while but I have been busy. I have just completed negotiations with a pattern maker that will result in power boxes for several early RHD Fords, such as Customlines, XK-XW Falcons, Compact Fairlanes and the Star models of the fifties. I hope to have some pre-production models before the end of the year and will post the results here. keep watching.

15.01.2022 Welcome aboard, Mrbrent.

15.01.2022 Hi guys, I haven't updated for a while because I have been working on a new project. I am manufacturing a modern integral power steering box for the HK-HG Holdens that will bolt in using the factory mounting holes and use the factory pitman arm. Exciting times are ahead! Keep watching this space for upgrades. July 20.

14.01.2022 Hi guys, I've been quiet on here for some time, but that's because I have been busy getting my hands dirty. In between making sales, I have been progressing on the status of my locally built RHD steering boxes. Still looking at the HK-HG Holdens up front, with FE-HR Holdens coming next. More news as it comes to hand. October 2018

11.01.2022 Well, it's taken longer than I hoped, but I can now advise you that I have complete kits ready to ship for your 1958-1964 RHD Chevrolet or Pontiac. The kit comprises a reconditioned Saginaw integral power steering box for RHD applications, a mounting adapter kit, a custom pitman arm to fit your factory drag link, a Borgeson intermediate steering shaft and a Borgeson rag joint to connect it to the steering box. Cost is $1,595 plus P&H. I can also supply a reconditioned Saginaw PS pump, pulley and mounting kits for SBC or W engines, all top quality Borgeson products. I am hoping to have a bespoke hose kit available before March to complete the picture. Photos shortly.

11.01.2022 Welcome aboard, Daniel!

09.01.2022 Well, things are progressing. I now have the final iteration of the sector shaft that I will be using for the HK-HG Holden integral power steering box. Now it's off to the pattern maker to get a pattern made to suit the sector shaft and that will bolt onto a Holden subframe. The Holden sector shafts use a coil spring to hold the sector shaft against the force of gravity, otherwise premature wear will result. I have decided to use a Chevrolet OEM set up with a captive bolt in the top of the sector shaft that can be adjusted with a screwdriver. More news around Christmas. December 11.

08.01.2022 Hi guys and gals. I have a new product available. Has your classic American cruiser got some wobbles in the front end? If so, it could be a worn ball stud that connects the pitman arm to the drag link, or relay rod. Those one inch ball studs are getting quite hard to find, but not any more. I have had some made right here in Melbourne and they will fit most all Chevs from the 1930s to the late fifties. Only $66 plus P&H will get you one. These studs will more than likely fit other GM cars as well as Chevs, so get on the keyboard and let me know if I can help you steer straighter than you are now.

04.01.2022 I have just sold out of my first batch of Pro Steer integral power steering boxes for the RHD 1955-1957 Chevrolets and am having a new run made right now. I hope to have them available for sale in February. More news and photos shortly.

03.01.2022 Peter Brock and I at SEMA, Las Vegas.

03.01.2022 Borgeson power steering box fitted to 1974 Corvette. Also a Hydroboost brake booster and Holden VZ master cylinder. The car now steers and stops like a race car.
