21.01.2022 Please support Traditional Owners and Aboriginal communities who are calling on State and Territory Governments to step up and ensure that the health of remote and regional communities are prioritised over profits - will you add your name to their call?

19.01.2022 Great to see the Nyul Nyul people standing up for Country and clean water. Premier McGowan - Don't Frack the Kimberley! Sign the petition here - https://www.environskimberley.org.au/ban_fracking

19.01.2022 We are in serious trouble and the McGowan government wants to frack the Kimberley which would release massive amounts of climate heating gases. Say NO to fracking the Kimberley here - https://www.environskimberley.org.au/ban_fracking

17.01.2022 Time to stand up against fracking the Kimberley. Take a photo of yourself/family/friends with a message ‘Don’t Frack the Kimberley’, check in to Cable Beach on FB and put the photo there - make sure you make the post ‘public’. Have fun!

16.01.2022 There could be thousands of oil and gas wells across the Kimberley. Fracking would have to be done with vast amounts of water, poisonous chemicals, flaring off, oil transport through Broome - that future looks horrendous. Protect the Kimberley!

14.01.2022 Most Broome locals use existing boat ramps or launching sites (at least 6) on the right tide and in the right weather conditions. With such big tides, common sense is required and education. The current proposal for massive boat launching facilities will completely destroy the well loved beach at Entrance Point. Many long term residents are very upset at these plans. Critical details are not available - cost? Where will the money come from? Who will pay ongoing maintenance ...- ratepayers? What studies have been conducted to show that launching into the Roebuck Deeps is safe? How will conflict with industrial ships be managed? Why are 4 ramps required? Who holds the liability for the project? Will heritage listed dinosaur footprints be destroyed? Public comments to the Shire can be made until the 16th April. You can do that via the link below or email the Shire direct. Speak now or it’ll be too late to complain later.

13.01.2022 Why are fossil fuel companies like Shell, Inpex and Buru Energy still allowed to send workers from the Eastern States to the Kimberley without quarantine for 14 days? There are many ways an infected person could spread the virus into Broome by doing this, the results could be devastating, particularly to vulnerable people of which there is a high percentage in the Kimberley. The McGowan Government is supporting this which reflects very badly on it. Supporting fossil fuel comp...anies that send their products and profits overseas over protecting the Kimberley’s vulnerable people is nothing to be proud of. Inpex has already had a worker fly through Broome with Coronavirus, did any of his co-workers catch it? How many Inpex workers are in self-isolation at a Broome resort still? Have any of them been tested? Are any of them showing any symptoms? We shouldn’t have to ask these questions, if Inpex was a good corporate citizen it would volunteer this information to give the community confidence in its action. The government is also culpable. 3 cases have been reported in the Kimberley but the government refuses to disclose any details on the third one. Wouldn’t it be great if the media asked some good questions. Go to this link to find out more. https://www.wa.gov.au//DPC0056_FAQs_Biosecurity_V1_270320.
