25.01.2022 Exceptional rock formations like this one near Wolgan Falls took millions of years to form. They can be destroyed within the next few years if the new Centennials mega coal mine proposal in the Gardens of Stone is given a go ahead. Many endangered heritage-listed high level swamps will also be ruined. Please help us to stop this abuse of the environment. Write a short submission to the NSW Planning Department using this link. https://www.colongwilderness.org.au//object-swam...p-destroyi Submissions close on 28 April 2020. 17.01.2022 We need your help! These wilderness landscapes of pristine Carne Creek will be forever ruined if the new coal mine in the Gardens of Stone is approved by the NSW Government planners. This project can be stopped if we all work together. 16.01.2022 Say NO to a huge new coal mine in the Gardens of Stone area. This mine extension shall fracture Birds Rock (pictured), a large spectacular sandstone monument in a protected flora reserve. It will also ruin many of the last undamaged national heritage listed swamps in the area. The NSW Department of Planning has asked for your opinions; please send them a short message. https://www.colongwilderness.org.au//object-swamp-destroyi Submissions close on 28 April 2020.... 11.01.2022 This is a pristine rainforest in the still pristine upper Carne Creek in the Gardens of Stone, only a couple of hours drive from Sydney. It must be kept that way for future generations, not undermined by a coal mining company for a short term gain. If you agree, please send a message to the NSW Planning Department using this link. https://www.colongwilderness.org.au//object-swamp-destroyi Submissions close on 28 April 2020. 09.01.2022 Submissions close at 5pm today, Tuesday 28 April 2020! In the heart of the Gardens of Stone region, a new Centennial Coals 2000-hectare mining proposal seeks to lock NSW into coal-fired electric power generation for the next 33 years. The amazing Cathedral Cave is in the project area and may be irreparably damaged and even collapsed if this proposal is allowed to go ahead. Many endangered heritage-listed high level swamps will also be ruined. You can stop this by making a sh...ort submission. 08.01.2022 We need your help! Say No to the new coal mining proposal in the Gardens of Stone area. 04.01.2022 BREAKING: Today, we exposed in the media that a multi-national coal company has been making false declarations to the government about its carbon emissions for ...10 years, in some cases understating its pollution by 97%. We have written to the Planning Department asking it to investigate whether an offence has been committed under the EP&A Act by reporting incorrect information. Providing misleading information in an EIS process is an offence under the EP&A Act, with a maximum penalty of $1 million for corporations and $250,000 for individuals. Research we have conducted shows Centennial Coals record of under-reporting carbon emissions from it mines over the past 10 years: > Error: 97% under-reported emissions Project: Angus Place Extension Amendment, 2020 Consultant: EMM Consulting > Error: 90% under-reported emissions Project: Springvale Mine Extension (approved), 2015 Consultant: SLR Consulting Australia > Error: 90% under-reported emissions Project: Angus Place Extension, 2014 Consultant: SLR Consulting Australia > Error: 90% under-reported emissions Project: Airly Expansion Project (approved), 2014 Consultant: SLR Consulting Australia > Error: 66% under-reported emissions Project: Awaba Extension Project (approved), 2010 Consultant: GSS Environmental This scandal only came to light because of an exclusive investigation by our team and provided to the Sun Herald for maximum exposure. Now more than ever, we need to step up our research and scrutiny of coal company claims, expose their wrongdoing in the media and build political pressure to stop dangerous projects like Angus Place from being approved. 02.01.2022 One of the many amazing slots in the Carne Creek pagodas can soon be out of the bushwalking and canyoning agenda, if Centennial Coal is allowed to proceed with its new mine in the Gardens of Stone.
