22.01.2022 Finally on Monday 11 children were transferred from Nauru to Australia for urgent medical attention. Another stand by our Greens offer a compromise agreement that may allow families to resettle in New Zealand. The Federal Government has indicated it may accept New Zealand's offer to take up to 150 refugees, but only if legislation passes Parliament ensuring people sent to offshore detention can never travel to Australia...

21.01.2022 We are ultimately in this all together. Let's stand together now.

20.01.2022 I became a migration agent because of the passion I had in my role as a social worker, where I was helping people who traveled to Australia to escape from persecution in their home country in search of a safe and free life. In this role, I realised that what they needed help with most was seeking approval to stay in the country. I completed a Graduate Certificate in Australian Migration Law and Practice at ANU, and I am now a Registered Migration Agent using my experience and expertise to assist those who genuinely need help. For me this is not a job or a business, this is a calling.

20.01.2022 Further to my post, the U.S has rejected 72 percent of Manus Island refugees in the latest group applying for resettlement in the States. The U.S originally agreed to accept 1250 of our refugees (which is an interesting issue in its own right) but have so far only resettled 467 people. This still leaves approximately 1200 people still in Australian offshore detention with no resettlement options.

18.01.2022 News just in... Children from asylum-seeker and refugee families are likely to be off Nauru by year's end - according to former attorney-general, George Brandis (ABC). However the Federal Government is currently refusing to confirm the timeline and it is unclear if the children and their families will be transferred to New Zealand or Australia. It is also unclear where asylum seeker children and their families will be processed. However after more than six years since the Nauru offshore processing facility was re-opened - this is the best news to come out of our small pacific island neighbour in quite some time.

18.01.2022 Safety.. on Manus for Australian refugees.

18.01.2022 Courage isn't having the strength to go on - it's about going on when you don't have the strength.

15.01.2022 Debate and the situation surrounding the children and refugees on Nauru has moved quickly this week. The Migration Amendment (Kids off Nauru) Bill 2018 was introduced in the Senate this week. Senator Wilkie stated in reading the Bill for the second time that, ...This bill is very straightforward. In essence, it requires that all children on Nauru be brought to Australia for medical treatment, accompanied by their families... there are approximately 70 children on Nauru currently. The majority are in need of urgent medical attention. All of them are in need of at least urgent medical assessment. A number of children have been evacuated to Australia since Monday and our politicians are again more actively debating resettlement options. (Migration Institute of Australia)

08.01.2022 Hi all, please share this post and donate if possible. I am working with ChanCes Charity to create a poverty alleviation program for the Batwa tribe of Uganda. The Batwa are an endangered peoples who suffer from extreme poverty. We are seeking to raise $6,000 to create a pottery enterprise for the community. Pottery items will be sold nationally and internationally and in doing so raise awareness about the plight of the Batwa. You can donate through the Go Fund Me page or on the ChanCes Charity website and use the reference of Basu. Any support you can provide is very much appreciated. xx

03.01.2022 For those in Sydney, this will be a very worthy rally to attend. See information below.

01.01.2022 Another interesting stance by our Department..

01.01.2022 So... I recently posted that all refugee and asylum seeker children on Nauru will be off the island by years end. That no longer appears to be the case. News reported in The Australian just moments ago finds that our Government will return all children who are presently in Australia receiving medical treatment to the offshore processing center. Scott Morrison stated that the 30 children who still remain on Nauru will stay there unless they need medical help in Australia or they are sent to the United States. The opposition party has appealed to the government to resettle these families in New Zealand however this appeal has again fallen on deaf ears.
