08.01.2022 Meet Alex Sterthebol Childs - co-founder at Proto Hub. Alex, and partner in waste revolution; Sophie (introduction coming soon) found their way to Precious Plastics through wanting to be able to offer meaningful work to people who faced barriers to it. Of course they wanted to do this via creating an ethical social enterprise Now is the time to act! I dont want my future kids to ask me what I did about climate change, deforestation, and plastic pollution and say, well..., nothing. We met Mark out of very good luck and he introduced us to the like-minded crew! We were just about to launch a crowdfunding campaign to raise money to build the machines ourselves...when just in the nick of time we met Mark and found out that he was already building them. 08.01.2022 Introducing Sophie Sophie Dahm, cofounder at #protohub - The above-all thing that led me to being part of the founding team of Proto Hub was the super inspiring conversation I had with Alex Sterthebol Childs, Mark, and Daniel early last year. Finding humble, driven, like-minded people who spur on your visions is exhilarating, of course I was gonna collaborate with them! Alex and I began thinking about ideas for a social enterprise in early 2018, and frustrated with excess p...lastic packaging we started thinking about sustainable alternatives, which led us to think about what could be done with all the existing plastic waste, could we reuse it in an innovative way? We hone in on this idea and formed our social enterprise, @colourfulcollective , with the core ambition of offering meaningful employment to asylum seekers whilst tackling the environmental disaster that is plastic waste. 07.01.2022 Heres the first thing weve taken out of the Compression Moulder with Colourful Collective - we were so eager to try it that we hand-shredded the hdpe. 06.01.2022 Introducing Daniel co-founder of Proto Hub! Daniel is hands-on and simultaneously theoretically led, having studied sustainability and environmental studies. He realised he wanted to contribute to finding solutions to plastic waste when he was showing someone a video - "I was showing this video to a guy who didn't really give a f***, when he reacted his face was so surprised, and I knew that was the place for change, how to make people change when it comes to the environment. It was like he had seen - I dunno, GOD! It was incredible. From there I thought, I will be able to stem into other environmental issues. With plastics it's very positive you're looking into using the creative side of your mind harnessing the forces of change, so you connect to your creativity and it expands your mind!"
