25.01.2022 Today is Wear it Purple Day and Proud 2 Play is proud to celebrate in recognition of our LGBTQI+ young people. The theme for this year’s Wear it Purple Day is We Are the Change and this resonates so strongly with us as an organisation. We exist to create spaces where all LGBTQI+ people can participate in sport, recreation and physical activity as their true and authentic selves. Now is the time for this to happen in sport and we will continue to work with sport at all level...s to pursue this mission. Today at 2pm, we will be hosting a panel discussion with three LGBTQI+ young people on the positive impact sport has had on their lives. To register, visit the link below! 23.01.2022 Proud 2 Play statement on homophobic language in a recent A-League match interview: Proud 2 Play congratulate Alou Kuol on his exciting A-League debut for the Central Coast Mariners. We acknowledge his post match interview was seen as refreshing in its honesty. Continuing the vein of honesty, we recognise Alou's shout out to his teammates, where he sought to include others and share the moment. We feel it is important to acknowledge that Alou could have communicated his messa...ge and love for his teammates in a more inclusive manner. We want to welcome all folks to the game, including the LGBTI+ community. Proud 2 Play wishes Alou a long and exciting career. We hope he can understand language is important and see this as an opportunity to educate players and the wider football community to express their love of the game with language that is inclusive of everyone across the football community. #Football4All #ProudFootball

13.01.2022 CW: suicide and self harm This is an incredibly brave and personal decision from the former Wallabies player Dan Palmer - highlighting the journey to self acceptance and being able to be your authentic self in both sport and in society. We applaud Dan for his courage and honesty It is important to remember that a person’s decision to come out or disclose their sexuality or gender identity in a public manner is a choice for that individual, and them alone. We are grateful ...that Dan chose to share his story, which we will no doubt help other people who may be struggling. Remember there are support services out there if you are feeling distressed or anxious. We are hopeful that culture change is happening in sport, and stories like Dan’s will inspire other people to live their lives as their authentic selves, when the time is right for them https://www.smh.com.au//my-own-death-felt-preferable-to-an
