23.01.2022 Recently our Music Director, Geoff Kiem, led a workshop on song leading at church. He reminded our singers and musicians of the purpose of music leading and singing in the Christian life: "The Gospel is like an amazing tapestry of colours. Because it is all sufficient and perfect in Jesus, our human-made music need never add to it. Instead, worship music helps to provide a suitable frame, not overly fancy, rusty, dusty or broken, but one that is just right... to convey the message of Christ. Although songs here on earth and the joy they bring ends after 3 minutes or so, we will one day be with Jesus where there will be eternal praise of God in Heavenan unending time of song and worship that we will never get sick of and one that will never end." If you're interested in serving in our music ministry, please reach out to Geoff or send us a DM! #providencebrisbane See more

04.01.2022 1) Sacrifices: Whole or Half-Hearted? As we are a people loved by God, we are called to respond to his love with worship that is whole-hearted. Do we sacrifice our best or our leftovers to God? 2) Relationships: Faithful or Unfaithful?... Because God is faithful to us, we are called to pursue godly relationships and to be faithful to our marriage vows. It is NEVER ok to abuse or abandon your spouse. 3) Social Justice: Merciful or Uncaring? No one is sinless and able to stand before God's just judgment. As people who have been shown mercy, we are called to do good and to show mercy to the vulnerable and oppressed. 4) Money: Generous or Greedy? At the cross, Jesus became spiritually bankrupt so that his people could become spiritually rich. As we belong to a generous God, we are called to be generous to gospel work and to be wise stewards of the money and privileges that God has gifted to us. -- Over the past month, Pastor Mikey has helped us to learn from the book of Malachi, and covered topics of sacrifice, relationships (singleness, marriage and divorce), social justice and money. If you have missed a talk, you can catch up here: http://providencechurch.com.au/talks/ Join us next week as we finish the series with the talk "Day of the Lord" from Malachi 3:3-4:6. #providencebrisbane

03.01.2022 The book of Malachi began with a declaration: I have loved you, says the Lord (Mal 1:2), and yet God's people responded with a heart of rejection and doubt: HOW have you loved us? Do you find yourself asking the same kind of questions? In hardship, suffering or when things don't go your way, do you find yourself wondering whether God is truly good, present or loving? In the past 6 weeks, @mikeytai has pointed us to the undeserved love... of God as demonstrated on the cross, and the spiritual blessings that we now share in Christ. "Honestly, you and I, we don't actually deserve God's love. Jacob didn’t deserve God's love. Israel in Malachi’s time, they didn’t deserve God’s love. God loves us because that's his character. When we come before Him and surrender our 'good' works, our pride, our entitlements, our selfishness, when we admit that we aren’t perfect, that we are sinners, in need of salvation, what do we discover? We discover a God who has loved us, who has forgiven us, who has shown us mercy and compassion, and demonstrated His love to us that while we were still sinnersHis enemiesChrist died for us." Will you draw near to this God of love? #providencebrisbane #calledtodrawnear See more

01.01.2022 This coming Sunday, @mikeytai will kick off a brand new sermon series 'In the Midst of the Saviour'. In this series, we will gain insight into the lives of people in the Bible who met and was transformed by Jesus in the gospels. Don't forget to RSVP if you plan to join our 10AM gathering at the Sunnybank Community Centre here: https://linktr.ee/providencebrisbane (link in bio)! #providencebrisbane
