24.01.2022 Providence Innovation and Excellence Programme PIE is an extension programme which is run after-school and involves Project-Based learning activities for students who show a desire and ability to be extended in the subjects. They are selected according to their academic abilities in HASS, English and IT. It is fully funded by the College. This year their project explored their chosen topic of either Water, Air, or Land where students focused on individual pursuits in research... and the development of student’s own choices. It involved problem-solving and taking action, presentation and public speaking. The cross-curricular nature of the programme spans not only HASS and English but also Science and Digital Technologies and the 16 Sustainability Goals that we try to embed throughout all learning. The themes for this year’s Extension class were Empathy and Perspective with a global focus integrated with technology. Such competitions and project-based learning experiences afford your child the opportunity to extend themselves in a Cross-Curricular approach and offer valuable experience in their development as young people. At the end of the Extension programme, students will have opportunities to showcase their completed projects at the PIE Exhibition. In addition to these exciting experiences, students will be shown how to create TED-Ed talks and some will be selected to present during HASS Week which usually occurs in Term 3. This year some of the students participated in the Ethics Olympiad where student voice in action is at the forefront. - - - #academicextension #learningforlife #theprovidenceway

23.01.2022 Formerly Thornlie Christian College, the College became known as Providence Christian College in 2020. The word providence means God’s provision and guidance. The name perfectly complements the College’s purpose to provide Education under the Lordship of Christ and therefore more accurately defines who we are and what we stand for. 22.01.2022 Providence has been such a blessing to our family. We have been a part of the school community for nearly 2 years. How did we make the decision to send our children to Providence? Well, we strongly feel that God led us here. We truly believed that we would not be able to afford a Christian school until the kids were in high school, however felt the Lord wanted us to pray on it, and of course, review the budget and crunch the numbers. To our surprise, the number-crunching r...evealed that the Lord would provide, and with both of our families encouraging us, we took a leap of faith and sent off our applications. When we met with Principal Innes, we were so grateful to meet a man with a genuine love for the Lord and felt that God had certainly led us to the school. Our children are blossoming in every possible way. They are little sponges, learning so many things. It warms our hearts when they come home singing praises to God, practicing their Indonesian, speaking about their teachers with such love and joy. Violet and Wesley have formed beautiful friendships with their peers. They are confident of who they are in Christ, loved, and uniquely created. It is our prayer as we partner with Providence that our children will continue to grow to know their Lord and Saviour, bear good fruit, and shine a light for him wherever he may lead them in their futures. We wholeheartedly feel that investing in an education and schooling experience at Providence is the best parenting decision we have made So far. We look forward to journeying through the years together. Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. The Arnold Family

18.01.2022 Not even the cold weather could stop these Year 6 students from getting into the water. They had so much fun down South on camp. Even though they would've been on a Sydney Canberra trip, Covid didn't stop their joy. Well done Year 6!
16.01.2022 I was particularly struck with the section "neither our fears for today nor worries about tomorrow" and I was reminded to realise how great God's love is for me, which was an absolute blessing, but also as Peter says in 1 Peter 5:7 "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you." What an amazing blessing to realise we have a God who not only loves us and wants us to remember that nothing will ever change His love for us but also the encouragement to bring all... of our cares to Him and to "Give them to Him" I was blessed by the Lord as He spoke to my heart, and maybe this will encourage someone else facing their own difficult storms. 14.01.2022 In this day and age, it's so important to be in a Community where Christian Values are still upheld. Where Core Biblical Principles are not compromised, where LOVE is the Centre of what we do and who we are. Because God is Love. At Providence, our daughters have been given not just academic education but taught who they are in Christ and are guided into who they will become in the future God has in store for them. ... We chose Providence because there is humility in learning that despite our imperfections, God is the centre and His favour is upon the College to build our next generation. We believe they will make a positive difference in the world. Satrio Family.

13.01.2022 Providence Christian College has been such a blessing to our family. Over the past 12 years, we have been the beneficiaries of our children going to an awesome school. We love the fact that when we drop our kids off at school each day they are entering an environment that encourages and inspires their faith. We feel fortunate that we have found a school that shares our Christian moral values and that the curriculum is aligned to this. We know that as parents God has given us the responsibility to lead and guide our children on their journey of life and faith. We love that at Providence our children are being equipped to understand the truth about life, the world, and trained to fulfill their purpose that God has for their lives. The Meyer Family

09.01.2022 Psalm 91 has been a wonderful encouragement to us, where we are reminded that the best place to be is in the arms of our loving Heavenly Father. My wife and I have also been encouraged by Proverbs 16:9 "We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps". It is such a blessing to know God is not only with us but guiding us into the plan He has for us. I love this quote by Billy Graham summarising Psalm 91. "The will of God will never take you where the grace of God wil...l not sustain you" - Billy Graham God bless you Mr Kennedy

03.01.2022 Last year God started prompting me to change to a Christian school to align with our family values. We met Pam and Charlene at a stand at Cockburn Gateway. I told my husband let’s just enquire, and before we knew it we were coming to the open day and tour and realised not only is this a Christian College but everything Providence is about is so God-Centred! This was a huge revelation for us and although a private school wasn’t a part of our budget we had to take a huge jump o...f faith and trust God to provide. Since my children have begun they have flourished in so many ways. It's the best decision we have ever made! It makes a huge difference to your children to attend a school with people who’s values alight with yours. Thank you to every person who has supported us along our journey. We look forward to many more years of growth and development for our children and their journey with Providence. 03.01.2022 At Providence Christian College, our Early Childhood Curriculum provides children with an excellent start to their educational journey. Through a balance of investigative play and explicit teaching, we aim to provide a well-rounded and considered programme that provides an opportunity for children to test out ideas, challenge their thinking and develop and create new understandings. We believe in ‘learning for life’ and seek to educate the ‘whole child’, spiritually, socially, emotionally, and academically. We provide a balanced curriculum that also introduces important fundamental Christian values through the way we interact with each other, as well as through the sharing of Bible stories, prayer, scripture, and songs. 02.01.2022 BOOK WEEK Curious Creatures, WILD MINDS 19th to 23rd October
02.01.2022 God is not finished with me yet. Ruth Graham, the wife of famous evangelist Billy Graham has this quote on her tombstone, "End of construction, thank you for your patience" In our Year 9 class, we were discussing how hard it can be to get on well with others. So often we forget to remember that each of us is "a work in progress". None of us are perfect and none of us have "arrived". With this in mind, we discussed this means we need to be gracious and loving when we deal... with each other. In Philippians 1:6 Paul reminds us all that God is working in each of us and will continue to work until we finally see Jesus face to face. Until then we need to keep our eyes on Jesus, and realise those we meet are also "under construction". This gives us the joy of knowing that no matter what we are facing God is still working, you are not alone, He is with us until the end. So today we can have hope as we face our struggles knowing that our loving God has promised "He will never leave us, never abandon us" and will continue working in us and through us. Mr. Steve Kennedy Head of Biblical Studies
