25.01.2022 To cap off a great Saturday of local sporting events we attended the North Lakes Mustangs FC against Tarragindi Tigers FC. A tough contest between the two teams in which the Mustangs ultimately came out on top winning 3-2 with both teams trading goals throughout most of the match. #football #footballbrisbane #soccerphysio #soccer #sportsphysio

25.01.2022 Last week we introduced some early concepts involved in training load management. This week we take a bit of a deeper dive and explore some more concepts and what can happen if your team rides into the danger zone. Coaches and athletes can struggle to know just how hard they should be pushing themselves during the week. We argue that isn't the question you should be asking, we believe you should be asking this instead - How hard do I want to push during the game, and how can... I best prepare myself to be ready for that. Without knowing what you want to achieve and how you will go about doing it, planning the journey there is impossible. In the next week we will be discussing pre-season training, the common pitfalls teams fall into, and how to avoid them. Access this weeks info at: https://prpphysio.com/training-load-part-2/

23.01.2022 In the senior reserves games for The Lakes FC the men played at Pinkenba against Brisbane Athletic Football Club and the women played at UQ against UQFC. Neither side could unfortunately come home with 3 points with the men's team going down 2-0 in a competitive rivalry match. The women unfortunately lost 3-0. Both teams will look to continue to work at training and improve upon these results next weekend. #womensfootball #mensfootball #football #footballbrisbane #soccer #soccerphysio #sportsphysio

20.01.2022 The Lakes FC Capital 1 Mens 1st team came up against rivals Brisbane Athletic Football Club Sunday afternoon. At the same time the BWPL 1st team played against UQFC. For the men's 1st team it was a tight battle against another team battling at the top of the ladder. Lakes FC went into halftime up 2-0 but were unfortunate to not be able to hold onto the lead and drew 3-3 in a highlight packed 2nd half of football. The men's team will travel to UQ this Sunday and will look to c...ome home with 3 points as their schedule eases over the next few weeks. The BWPL 1st team lost to UQFC 3-0 conceding 2 goals in the 2nd half. The team will look to improve over the net two weeks with the bye this weekend prior to their clash next Friday night against Virginia United Football Club. #womensfootball #mensfootball #football #footballbrisbane #soccer #soccerphysio #sportsphysio

20.01.2022 The Lakes FC Capital 1 Men's 1st team came up against Virginia United Football Club on Saturday evening in what was close to a must win match for The Lakes following two tough losses. A close 1st half resulted in both teams going into the sheds locked at 0-0 however The Lakes team was able to capitalise on their chances in the second half coming out 2-0 winners. The two goals were scored by Jack Porter and Josh Ahern, and both were assisted by Tom Cashman. The Lakes come up ...against New Farm United Soccer Club next Saturday afternoon at 1 and 3pm at Kinsellas Park in the final game of the season before the league splits into top 6 and bottom 6. The team will look to carry this momentum forward next week and look to come out with another big win. #football #footballphysio #soccer #soccerphysio #sportsphysio #footballbrisbane #mensfootball #lakesfc #northlakes #upthelakes

20.01.2022 Great to spend the afternoon learning about the Return to Sport Process with a set of lectures presented by La Trobe University. World class set of presenters speaking on concussion, shoulder injuries, back pain, and muscle and tendon injuries. Looking forward to gaining more information in tomorrows workshops to enhance the rehabilitation for our clients.

20.01.2022 How impactful is exercise for tendon presentations? Check out this case of a football (soccer) player I have been managing to see the impact the addition of an exercise program had for him and his capacity to play and train week in and week out.

19.01.2022 Key takeaways from Kellie Wilkie's presentation: Reverse lunges are a great exercise to take away hip flexor tension straight leg raise difference of 10degrees between 1st and last point of resistance L4-5 concerns better diagnosed with straight leg raise assessment S1 concerns better diagnosed with slump assessment ... Avoid axial load but continue to load through strength and conditioning Deadlifts MAY be able to completed in early stages of rehab Need to maintain training load to keep fitness while unloading the aggravated tissue 3 months of consistent training is protective against injury Imaging only recommended if: serious pathology suspected, unsatisfactory response to conservative care, or it is likely to change management Manual therapy recommended as an adjunct to an exercise program Facilitate the continuation or resumption of work or sport See more

18.01.2022 The Lakes FC U18's played against Mitchelton Football Club on Saturday afternoon at Aurora Park. Both teams came away with 1 point after a 2-2 draw. The Lakes had plenty of opportunities to come away with the win but were unable to capitalise on their chances. #footballbrisbane #football #soccer #soccerphysio #northlakes #physio #mensfootball

17.01.2022 Groin pain is one of the most common presentations in football (soccer) players worldwide. It may not cause the time loss that hamstring injuries cause, but it can still cause significant concerns and loss of performance in athletes.

17.01.2022 Pre-season training is integral to in-season success for any sporting code. To have a successful pre-season you have top have fit and healthy players available for training right? It is every coaches worst nightmare when players come back from the off-season break out of shape and unfit, or if there's players that are fit and others who have done nothing? What's the solution? The answer is providing your athletes with a structured off-season program to complete. Remember tho...ugh it is important to allow your players to have a mental break from the season they have just completed. Providing some variety in their training program such as trying new exercise programs like yoga or pilates alongside their structured work can be highly beneficial. Tomorrow we will provide you an outline of a sample pre-season program to see how it can be put together!

15.01.2022 The Lakes FC Capital 1 Men's team versed Annerley Football Club in a tightly contested match with both teams coming away with 1 point each in a 1-1 draw. The Lakes reserves team ran away 4-2 winners in the earlier game. #footballbrisbane #football #soccerphysio

13.01.2022 The Lakes FC Capital 1 Men's Reserves team battled hard on Sunday afternoon against UQFC but couldn't come away with 3 points eventually going down 3-2. The Lakes started the game with 10 men and unfortunately went down 2-0 in this time but evened up the scores once they had 11 men on the park. An unfortunate penalty in the 2nd half was the deciding difference between the two teams. #football #footballbrisbane #thecobra #soccer #soccerphysio #thelakesfc #UQFC

11.01.2022 Looking forward to a great afternoon of football The Lakes FC this upcoming Saturday afternoon supporting the Men's Capital 1 teams and the BWPL teams. #lakesfc #football #northlakes #upthelakes #mensfootball #womensfootball

11.01.2022 Day 2 of the Return to Sport Process online conference by La Trobe University. Great line up of presenters including: Craig Purdam: Returning muscle injuries without recurrence Kellie Wilkie: Successful return to sport following back pain Rod Whiteley: How to get that shoulder injury back on track... Looking forward to implementing some clinical pearls to our practice at the clinic.

10.01.2022 Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to get any pictures of our Capital 1 Men's Reserves team playing against Virginia United Football Club so by popular demand we are reposting our shot of Nick Shadbolt from last week! The Lakes FC lost their keeper early in the match due to an ankle injury and as a result Virginia were able to capitalise going ahead 2-1 at halftime. In what was a scintillating second half of football The Lakes FC were able to come out with a 6-5 win. #football #footballphysio #soccer #soccerphysio #sportsphysio #footballbrisbane #mensfootball #lakesfc #northlakes #upthelakes

07.01.2022 On Sunday morning The Lakes FC City 4 Women's team played at Gap Football Club. The Lakes were too good on the day coming away 5-0 winners to keep their unbeaten streak alive at 8 games and sitting at the top of the table. This team has been firing on all cylinders all season scoring 37 goals and conceding only 2 goals for the season to date. #womensfootball #football #footballbrisbane #soccerphysio #soccer #sportsphysio

07.01.2022 Patellofemoral pain is one of the most common presentations for knee pain. It can occur in younger adolescents all the way through to active adults. It occurs most commonly due to increased forces at the patellofemoral (kneecap) joint and is often driven by factors at the foot or the hip.

06.01.2022 Great to support The Lakes FC City 2 Men's team this evening at Kinsellas Park against St George Willawong FC. A physical and tough game resulting in a 1-1 draw. Lakes FC Capital 1 Men's team play Brisbane Athletic Football Club while the BWPL versus UQFC tomorrow afternoon which should both be fantastic games.

05.01.2022 Spent Sunday morning at The Lakes FC assisting with the City 4 Women's team in their game against Peninsula Power FC. The Lakes ran away winners 8-1 in a great performance across the park. The team is a pleasure to work with, one of my current clients returning from an ACL injury participated in this game. It's great to see the results of the work clients put in to their rehabilitation pay off in their performances. Unfortunately one of the opposing players suffered a knee injury during the game, following assessment it appeared to be an ACL injury. Early hands on assessments are typically highly accurate however imaging such as MRI can provide further diagnostic information. #womensfootball #football #footballbrisbane #ACL #soccerphysio #sportsphysio

05.01.2022 Some people look at me like I'm a lunatic when I suggest not going for surgery for their ACL rupture, am I actually a lunatic though? Find out what the evidence says in our blog post! Is Non-Surgical Management of ACL Injuries Really a Thing? - https://bit.ly/3gMNi6Y

04.01.2022 The Lakes FC City 2 Women's team also played Saturday at lunchtime against Virginia United Football Club. The game was a 1-1 draw with both teams playing well but neither able to take home the 3 points. #womensfootball #football #footballbrisbane #soccerphysio #physio #sportsphysio #soccer

04.01.2022 Was great to get down and support the senior men's team at North Lakes Leopards Junior Rugby Union Club on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately the Leopards couldn't come away with the win going down 44-10 against Brisbane Irish Rugby Football Club. #northlakesleopards #northlakes #rugbyunion #physio #sportsphysio #brisbanerugby

03.01.2022 The Lakes FC Capital 1 Men's team came up against North Pine Sports Club in a local derby match on Sunday afternoon. The younger North Pine outfit certainly came to play racing off to a 2-0 lead at half time. The Lakes got themselves back into the game levelling it up at 2-2. Both teams had a number of high quality chances to come away with the win but ultimately North Pine came ahead 3-2 with a shot deflecting off the inside of a Lakes CB calf and ricocheting into the goals with only a few minutes left in the game. The men's team will travel to Virginia United Football Club on Saturday where they will look to rebuild some momentum and stay in the top 6 of the competition. #mensfootball #football #soccer #footballbrisbane #soccerphysio #sportsphysio #northlakes

03.01.2022 Missing field based rehabilitation is one of the most common errors I see clients make in rehabbing after an ACL injury. Most clinics don't have the space and capacity to perform this training adequately leaving athletes at potential increased risk of a second ACL injury.

03.01.2022 Tough day at the office for The Lakes FC Capital 1 Men's 1st team on Sunday afternoon going down to UQFC 2-1. After a tough string of games the team was hoping to come away with 3 points. #football #footballbrisbane #thelakesfc #UQFC #sportsphysio #soccer #soccerphysio

03.01.2022 Key takeaways from Craig Purdams presentation: early running load for hamstrings but not calves strength and strength endurance often underadressed in rehabilitation careful when returning calf injuries to running consider running endurance and speed when returning to training and sport... increasing higher speed volume confers increased protection in hamstring strains, but delays return to sport higher speed athletes may need longer for rehab eccentric training isn't only for hamstrings, calves need it as well proximal muscles will often fatigue first in sport, we need to rehab these more than we currently are See more

01.01.2022 Had a great night at Woodside on Tuesday night at North Lakes Leopards Junior Rugby Union Club speaking with Gary the club president and Kelly-Jo the Vice-President. A wonderful club with a great community atmosphere looking to grow their programs and further strengthen as a club. We discussed a number of opportunities such as: - Developing injury prevention programs - Warm up and cool down programs... - Workshops for teams ranging from juniors to seniors We are looking forward to working with the club in the future to assist them in developing strong well rounded athletes. #rugbyunion #northlakes #northlakesleopards #rugbyphysio #sportsphysio #injuryprevention #womensrugby

01.01.2022 Pre-season is integral for teams and athletes to prepare for the upcoming year. But how important is it really? Some look as pre-season as just a way to get a bit fitter, some people don't take it too seriously, others go all out. I'm here to tell you it can be the difference between winning the league and not winning it, that's how important it is. Why Load Management can Make or Break your Preseason https://bit.ly/3gOxArE
