25.01.2022 "Want to tell you that my treatment worked really well. You obviously hit the right spots. I lost that sharp pain by the next morning. It was incredible." Bowen Therapy doesn't always provide the instant gratification that we all desire today, but it often gets good long-term results. This person was able to enjoy the long weekend. Hope you did too.

25.01.2022 A young farmer's wife dreaded winter ever since she moved out west from Sydney onto her new family's farm. She loved everything about her new life except for the freezing mornings. No matter how many layers she wore, the frosty mornings made her feel lethargic and icy until she finally thawed out at lunchtime. On the mornings that she did get out and help on the farm she ended up distressed and in tears, which was very unlike her. On the mornings she stayed inside she fel...t extremely guilty that she wasn't pulling her weight. After a couple of Bowen treatments this delightful lass called happily to cancel her third appointment. Since the second treatment she comfortably managed to work from sunup to sundown alongside her husband despite the frosty weather. She still needed to rug up, but was no longer completely overwhelmed by the cold.

24.01.2022 Poor Rabbit the Jack Russell had a very sensitive stomach. He'd never been able to eat dry biscuits, and his owners knew they had to be careful about the food they did buy him or their carpet would wear it. He'd had episodes where he couldn't even keep any water down for days and had stints in hospital on a drip to keep him hydrated. The condition didn't seem to be getting worse over the years, but they were concerned about the impact the severe episodes would have on his ...longevity. After the second Cat & Canine Muscles Release Therapy session Rabbit's owners said that he was taking on more water than normal with no adverse signs, and that he was even snacking on the dog biscuits left out for his yard mate, Tully. I checked in with Rabbit's owners about 6 months later and they said that during the week after our third session Rabbit and Tully had started sharing their food, so they stopped being choosey about his food. Not only that, Rabbit was able to have a big drink after a walk and no longer had any problem keeping food or water down.

23.01.2022 It's all connected! Your sore knee might stem from your ankle or your shoulders. Or the source of your headaches might be your gut. That's why we use a whole-body approach in Bowen therapy!

23.01.2022 Bowen Therapy can help with breastfeeding issues, including increasing milk supply and babies being fussy feeders on one side.

23.01.2022 As well as the muscles, Bowen therapists work on your fascia. Fascia is an important, highly mobile, connective tissue, which runs throughout your body. It is v...ia the fascia that we often address levels of tension and discomfort. Via Bowen Association (UK) Read more: https://www.bowen-technique.co.uk/why-is-bowen-therapy-hel/

23.01.2022 Got a buzz when I relieved a lady’s severe lower back and leg pain during her first Bowen treatment today. I did explain there was probably more work to do. Wish I’d met you 7 months ago when this all started, she said. Even if it comes back tomorrow it’s such a blessing to know it can change, and the absence of pain right now is such a relief!

22.01.2022 Another little story of when Bowen didnt work. A delightful lady out west came to see me with difficulty lifting the front part of the foot. The doctor had referred her to the physio who had given her exercises that were not working the drop foot was getting worse. She went back to the doctor who told her to continue with the exercises, I guess because there were no other symptoms. She came to see if Bowen could help, and it improved markedly over four treatments. ... She then went on an overseas holiday with a friend for ten weeks, and phoned just before her scheduled appointment on her return to say that she had booked in to see a neurologist in Sydney before coming home because her drop foot had got much worse since not having regular Bowen treatments, and other symptoms had appeared as well. A few weeks later I received a delightful letter from her thanking me for enabling her to enjoy her overseas trip, and explaining that she had been diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease. The doctors were very interested that the original symptoms seemed to have been controlled with Bowen Therapy, but were convinced that it would not assist her any longer, and sadly gave her three months to live. She had decided to write to all those she wanted to say goodbye to and then await the inevitable with no further intervention.

22.01.2022 Bowen doesn’t work with everyone, and no matter how hard I try to find an answer for someone’s discomfort sometimes I just can’t. I remember treating a farmer a few years ago who had quite severe restrictions in the movement of his neck and shoulders. Over the first few Bowen treatments it had improved by about 25% but then didn’t get any better. He kept returning for weekly Bowen treatments for months, refusing to go to the doctor to have scans and MRI’s as I suggested. ... He had seen Jean Murphy a few years beforehand and saw her again when I suggested that might be an option, but after reviewing him she could find nothing that she could help him with. The interesting thing about this guy was that he was not in any pain. One day his son accompanied him to an appointment. I was reviewing the case with him, trying to find something that I had perhaps missed, and said, once again, Now, are you sure you didn’t ever hurt your shoulder? and he, once again, said No. The son piped up and said Dad, remember a couple of years ago when you were getting out of the truck and your foot slipped and your arm got stuck in the steering wheel and you were hanging there at an awkward angle for about 10 minutes before I came round with the header and found you? Maybe you hurt your shoulder then?. He maintained that he didn’t hurt his shoulder. A little light went on inside my brain. I changed the word hurt to injured, but it made no difference. It would have to hurt if I injured it, wouldn’t it? he said. I then asked him if he’d ever broken any bones, he told me that when he was six he’d broken his arm, but it took them two weeks to figure out it was broken because it didn’t hurt. I think he was a person that simply didn’t feel any pain! Not wanting to take any more of his money, I refused to treat him until he’d had a scan, and the report showed so much long-term bone, ligament and tendon damage that even he understood that it would not get any better. But trying Bowen was worth it, improving range of motion by 25% and finally being pushed to find out what was really going on.

21.01.2022 I was quite a sceptic,....until I started Prue's Bowen therapy treatments. They were actually making a difference to my quality of life. Injured due to a car accident, I found that I felt quite constant neck, shoulder and lower back pain. Prue was able to help with all that and more. Headaches, poor posture (due to accident) and other symptoms were relieved by the "magic" of those gentle treatments. I'm so lucky to have given it a try. I thank Prue sincerely for her work and helping change my outlook on this amazing therapy. 5 stars definitely.

21.01.2022 As you may have noticed, when Bowen doesnt seem to work, I often suggest people visit Jean Murphy in Orange for Mora Therapy. Like a Fitbit, which uses bioresonance technology to identify the vibrations in your body of your heart beat and footsteps, the Mora machine uses bioresonance to identify the vibrations of viruses, bacteria, heavy metals or chemicals in the body that are having a negative effect on the health of the person. The machine can then neutralise those vib...rations, potentially leaving the person with reduced or resolved symptoms. Over the years I have become familiar with the more common symptoms of long-term chronic viral infections, and wonder if this is what Bowen sometimes assists the body to overcome. I think there is a tipping point in which the bodys immune system is no longer capable of overcoming this adversity, and thats where Mora Therapy is very useful. I do believe that a correctly prescribed and followed supplement regime and lifestyle changes can also affect the same improvement but it takes a long time for this to take effect. Furthermore, for some people the body can only maintain the improvement that Mora provides with the help of nutrition and lifestyle changes.

21.01.2022 "Since last week my thumbs have got really sore. Not really the thumbs, but the palm of my hand is sore when I move my thumbs." So said a person who was in for their second Bowen treatment for lower back pain which, by the way, was much improved. A little work on each hand at the end of their treatment had the thumbs moving freely with no hand pain.

21.01.2022 If you’re closer to Mudgee than Dubbo, Don is a terrific Bowen Therapist getting great results.

21.01.2022 One of the people who is getting Bowen at the moment was talking about her diet and lifestyle the other day. Her and her husband are very careful about what they eat, making well informed choices about their food and activities. When I congratulated her on that, this is what she said: "It means that we can enjoy life as we get older, and it is a gift to our children that we maintain our health so they don't have to look after us or go through the ordeal of putting us in a h...ome. We're also not wasting taxpayer's money on illness. We just see it as our responsibility." If only everyone had the same attitude! Stay healthy and have a good week.

21.01.2022 A man proudly told me that he had Gluteal Tendinopathy (nice big words). I was meant to know exactly what his condition was and exactly how to fix it. He seemed a bit perplexed when I asked him which tendon the problem was in. Tendinopathy simply means there is a problem in the tendon. A tendon is that part of a muscle which attaches it to the bone, so most muscles have two one at either end. There are three gluteal muscles, located in the buttocks. I was surprised t...hat nobody had explained this to him over the two years that he had been seeking help for the problem. Once I explained what Gluteal Tendinopathy meant, and showed him on a cool app Ive got of the human body, his diagnosis made no sense to him because his pain was in the outside of his thigh and knee, and it felt like deep bone pain (a bit of a red flag). Because the doctors had already been involved and had made a diagnosis that they were sticking with I decided not to refer back to them at this stage. Over the duration of his treatments the leg pain resolved but had moved to his buttock, then ended up pinpointed at the point over a bursa on the upper end of her thigh bone, which resulted in another Biology 101 lesson. Work on this point relieved the last of the tenderness, but it had returned by the next visit. Releasing tension in a neighbouring muscle (not one of the glutes by the way) resolved the problem for good. Was the original diagnosis incorrect in this case? Who would know, but it matters not what the diagnosis is. As a Bowen therapist I do not diagnose. Instead, I treat the symptoms of the body that turns up on the day, and sometimes it takes a while to get to the crux of the problem.

21.01.2022 I received this testimonial the other day from a busy mother of three: "Prue helped me with my vertigo recently. I was able to get in to see her very quickly, for which I was extremely thankful. After just one treatment I felt a lot better, only dizziness on looking up remained. I went back for another treatment a week later and it all completely resolved within 24 hours of the second treatment. I am still vertigo-dizzy free nearly 2 months later. It's amazing how such a gentle, non-invasive treatment can make such a big difference."

20.01.2022 A farmer came to see if Bowen would help with excruciating shoulder pain that he had been putting up with for a number of years. After three Bowen treatments there was no improvement at all, so I suggested that he talk with Jean Murphy, the Mora Therapist in Orange to see if she thought she might be able to help. Sure enough, there was a nasty bacteria involved which was very tricky to get rid of.

20.01.2022 Here is my wonderful teacher Ali Goward talking about the wonderful Equine Muscle Release Therapy (EMRT) - the method she has taught me to apply Bowen to horses. Covid has delayed our Cat & Canine Release Therapy (CCMRT) course, which we had almost finished, but looking forward to continuing that soon. If you want to know more about EMRT please watch this video, and if you think I may be able to help your horse in a gentle, holistic way, please get in touch. https://www.youtube.com/watch

20.01.2022 5 months ago a young bull rider landed in the dust on his hands and knees and the bull jumped on top of him. I didn't ask too many questions about that. Despite xrays showing no broken bones, his back had been getting progressively worse since then. It was pain free only when he was lying, sitting or standing still, but on any movement he was experiencing pain at the level of 8-9/10. Can't have been much fun. He walked out of his first Bowen treatment with me pain free! How does that even happen?? Just astounding.

20.01.2022 A 5 year old had been grinding his teeth in his sleep for some time. It was so loud that it was waking his mum and dad up many times a night, and it was even waking his little 18 month old sister. Imagine the damage to his teeth if this had gone on long term. After the first Bowen treatment there was some teeth grinding happening on the first night but that was the last time they were aware of it. His mum brought him back for a couple more treatments (free) to make sure th...at he didn't start again, and after the three weeks they stopped coming. They were all getting a good sleep every night. I recommended that they continue to get regular checkups with the dentist to keep an eye out for signs of continued teeth grinding in case he requires dental intervention for protecting his teeth from wear, and better still consider further Bowen treatments to reduce the grinding action.

20.01.2022 It's all connected!

19.01.2022 A man proudly told me that he had Gluteal Tendinopathy (nice big words). I was meant to know exactly what his condition was and exactly how to fix it. He seemed a bit perplexed when I asked him which tendon the problem was in. Tendinopathy simply means there is a problem in the tendon. 18.01.2022 A lady from out west had experienced ever increasing neck pain and stiffness for a number of years, and nothing seemed to have halted its progress though she had tried many things. She had four Bowen treatments over 5 weeks with minimal improvement each time - the first time anything had made a difference, slight though it was. However she couldn't really afford the money or time to continue coming to Dubbo for treatment and was disappointed to have to stop having Bowen. Ten... weeks later I called her to see how her neck was going and she said that it was still gradually improving, the pain is minimal and occasional now, and her range of motion is almost back to normal. Every body is different, and every body responds to Bowen differently. Bowen triggers the body to heal itself if it can, and sometimes improvement is seen immediately, but it takes some bodies a bit longer than others.

17.01.2022 "Since last week my thumbs have got really sore. Not really the thumbs, but the palm of my hand is sore when I move my thumbs." So said a person who was in for their second Bowen treatment for lower back pain which, by the way, was much improved. A little work on each hand at the end of their treatment had the thumbs moving freely with no hand pain.

17.01.2022 One of the effects Bowen Therapy has on the body is rehydrating tissue. It makes more space between all the structures of the body, even down to a cellular level, so that water can get back in to the connective tissue. I'm always amazed at how thirsty most people are after a Bowen treatment, even if they think they have consumed plenty of water beforehand. The body uses a lot of water to rehydrate itself! When a client is thirsty I know that Bowen is having a positive impact on the body.

17.01.2022 With crippling sciatic pain down the back of each leg, debilitating depression and very photosensitive eyes, an old man came in to see if Bowen would help. After each treatment he would get relief from all three symptoms for about three days, then it would all gradually come back till on day seven, when he came for the next treatment, it was all as bad as it was at the start. The body was responding with Bowen, but it was not holding. After three treatments with no change... in the results I did not want to keep taking his money, but I also didnt want to leave him high and dry in so much pain. I would have kept treating him for free if I had thought it was the only option for him. On a hunch I drove him down to Orange to see if Jean Murphy, the Mora Therapist there, could help. The transformation was amazing. On the way to Orange he was very quiet, hunched over in pain and seemed to be asleep for most of the way. After his Mora treatment he was bright, happy, could see easily in the daylight and was overjoyed that he was pain free. He took me out for lunch in Orange and told me jokes all the way home. After that he dropped in every six months or so with a bunch of flowers to say thanks, and we were both amazed that none of his symptoms had returned. I havent heard from him for a few years now, since he and his wife moved to the coast to be closer to family.

16.01.2022 A Bowen session characteristically involves regular pauses during the treatment, where the therapist leaves the room if they are able. This is, in part, to allow the brain and nervous system to respond fully to the stimulation of the gentle Bowen moves with out any other stimulation from the environment. After one of these pauses, I entered the room to find the person I was treating yawning. She laughed and said, "I'm so sorry, I just can't stop yawning!" This had been goi...ng on for a full 2 minutes since I had left the room. Sometimes people have responses to a Bowen move, and whilst ever these responses continue it indicates that the body is busy for whatever reason, and we shouldn't disturb it. In this case the response was yawning, and it continued for another 5 minutes. This is quite a long response in a Bowen treatment, and anything more may have overloaded the body so we finished the treatment there. By the time she left, the person said that she felt like a lot of congestion had drained from her sinuses and ears and she felt a lot lighter all over, and her shoulders had improved even though we had stopped the treatment before I addressed them.

16.01.2022 Just like the important rests between Bowen moves!

15.01.2022 A young horse I knew well was not settling at the trainer's. Showing the whites of her eyes, tail jammed down, muscles quivering and sweating up, she had been very reactive for a day and a half. When I gently and carefully entered the yard she showed signs of relaxing and wanting to be with me. I was able to give her a short EMRT session in which she fully relaxed and even went to sleep. Afterwards it seemed like she could self-regulate her fear much better, and training could begin. The patient, considerate and nurturing work with the experienced trainer helped her grow into a confident and reliable saddle horse.

15.01.2022 Many years ago I treated a guy whose mid back seized up about twice a year. He was a lovely chap in his mid sixties. When this happened he would have to go to bed for 3 weeks or so for it to get better. If he didn't, it would just get worse and worse. He'd tried physio, chiro, massage, acupuncture, etc. and nothing worked. He walked freely into the second weekly Bowen treatment telling me that I'd fixed him, and it was feeling so good that he didn't need to wear his back... brace anymore when doing woodwork (he hadn't told me he had been using a back brace) and he'd thrown it away! He said that it felt as good as after the doctors used to fix it when he was a kid, which prompted me to ask what the doctors did. He would go to the Macquarie Private Hospital (which used to be in Fitzroy Street in Dubbo) and under a general anaesthetic the doctors would manipulate his back. When he woke up he would be good as gold for another 6 months or so. They stopped doing it when he was 16 years old and he could never get that relief again until his Bowen treatment. What an interesting story! Every now and then he suggests that someone come in to me for a Bowen treatment, and he gets them to tell me he still hasn't had another episode of his back seizing up, ever since his Bowen treatment all those years ago.

14.01.2022 Cisco was getting old and had hurt his back playing with his younger Border Collie friend. He was very unhappy, and spent all his day curled up sleeping, hiding behind a washing basket in the laundry. After three CCMRT (Cat & Canine Muscle Release Therapy) treatments Cisco was taking a lot more notice of the world around him and communicating with his owners. He was confident to join his yard mates outside, although not yet playing with them yet. He was still stiff, but the big hump in his back had decreased significantly, and he had begun to stretch his back a bit.

13.01.2022 Recently I received a lovely email from someone who I helped a while ago who has referred a friend to me. She said, "I feel really fortunate that you have come into my life and have so beautifully impacted my quality of life, not only with Bowen but your caring interesting quirky self." Feel blessed to be helping people. Not so sure about the quirky bit .. is that a compliment do you think??

13.01.2022 I received this testimonial the other day from a mother of three. "Prue helped me with my vertigo recently. I was able to see her very quickly, for which I was extremely thankful for. After just one treatment I felt a lot better - only dizziness on looking up remained. I went back for another treatment a week later and it all completely resolved within 24 hours of the second treatment. I am still vertigo-dizzy free nearly 2 months later. It's amazing how such a gentle, non-invasive treatment can make such a big difference."

12.01.2022 One of my favourite moments as a Bowen Therapist was treating a little 10 week old girl with severe colic. Her exhausted and despairing mother brought her in to the clinic and she was writhing in her arms and crying her little lungs out. Normally I talk with the young mum first but there was no point - neither of us could hear the other - and so I just did the gentle Baby Bowen moves. That distraught, dried up, red, crying little baby settled then and there, and went sound ...asleep in her mothers arms. I guided the beautiful little mother into a comfortable chair and by the time I came back with a drink of water she herself was having a good cry, letting out all the tiredness and worry and helplessness she'd experienced over the last eight weeks. During that time the little one had not slept longer than 40 minutes at a stretch, often only getting 3 hours of sleep at the most in 24 hours. When the tears stopped flowing, she looked at her little girl and said, "Oh, she's the same colour as when she was born, nice and pink. She's been so red all this time I'd forgotten what she should look like." That little baby slept for an hour and a half while we sat together, talking or sharing silence. I walked them out to the car and she did not stir whilst being put in her car seat. They phoned me a week later to say that she had slept all the way out to Brewarrina where she was going to stay with friends, and had settled into feeding four hourly through the day without any signs of pain, sleeping in between times and sleeping through the night as though catching up on all she'd missed out on.

11.01.2022 Horses, cats, dogs and other animals can all benefit from the gentle touches of Bowen therapy. Do you know a wonderful Animal Bowen therapist? Tag them or their website below!

11.01.2022 "A message from the bottom of my heart, your Bowen Therapy certainly has worked wonders on me ... I have had a "twinge" here and there, but nothing in comparison to before my first visit to you. Trust me, I will rapidly return if there are signs of that awful sciatic pain returning!"

10.01.2022 A mother of two young boys came in to try Bowen as a last resort for hip pain that had gradually been getting worse for the past three years. At the time it was constantly sore, ranging between 5/10 to 8/10, was particularly bad at night, stopping her sleeping, exercising, and playing with her children. She had tried different massage therapists, chiropractors and acupuncturists in an attempt to get some relief, but apart from sometimes feeling a little better on the day the... pain returned during the first night. She had x-rays, scans and MRI's which all showed no clue as to the cause of the pain. At the start of the first treatment she apologised for being skeptical, saying that a friend of hers had suggested Bowen and couldn't explain it but it sounded too good to be true, and she was sure it wouldn't work on her. That night was the first good sleep of many to come. The hip pain hadn't woken her at all. She had two days of no pain with mild pain on the second night. The discomfort escalated during the week but she rated as 3-6/10 at the second treatment. At the third weekly treatment she reported pain levels of 1-4/10 during the previous week. She promised herself monthly maintenance treatments but has been too busy to keep them and doesn't really need them as the pain hasn't returned.

09.01.2022 A teenager had done a stupid teenager thing with some friends, which seemed like a good idea at the time but unfortunately resulting in a torn gluteal muscle. The poor lad could barely put any weight on his leg, and the doctor had indicated he wouldn't be back to normal for four weeks or so. His mother phoned me, and with great urgency explained that her son had his heart set on playing in the grandfinal in four days. It was a very important game to him because his coach (f...ather of a friend who had been the team's coach since under 7's) had been diagnosed with cancer and this was going to be the last season he would coach the team - the boys were playing for their coach, not the trophy. Nobody else she had spoken to had given her any hope of a quick recovery, and asked if I thought Bowen Therapy might get him on the field safely for at least part of the game? Nothing surprises me with Bowen, and yet I am always surprised. I indicated that it was worth a shot but didn't really think it was wise that he should play so soon after such an injury. I agreed to give it a go if they wanted, afterall how was I to know if the lad's body had the potential to recover so quickly, but if it did have that potential then Bowen is the therapy which may help it to do so. I arranged to see the boy every afternoon for the rest of the week as well as the morning of the game - that gave me four daily treatments to see what Bowen could do. After the first treatment the poor chap hobbled out as bad as he had hobbled in, but the next morning he was much improved. He took the day off school and rested, and walked in to his second appointment with a noticeable limp. The next day he went to school, and walked confidently in for his third treatment that afternoon. He announced that he didn't want to come in the next morning so he could spend more time with the team before the big game. From being barely able to walk with a torn gluteal muscle, three Bowen treatments later saw this young lad play the whole grandfinal, scoring 2 goals to contribute to the biggest win of their lives for the coach. His mother said that he was not even sore or tender the next day. The power of the human body to heal is quite simply phenomenal. Who are we to put a limit on its potential by not trying Bowen Therapy?

09.01.2022 Trigeminal nerve pain can be extraordinarily unpleasant. This nerve is responsible for carrying messages from the face to the brain, and when it's not working properly can cause mild to severe pain often stimulated by speaking, chewing or brushing teeth. A middle aged lady came in to see if Bowen might help her with constant and severe jaw pain. The doctors had diagnosed trigeminal neuralgia and the medication they had suggested took the edge off the pain but she was still extremely uncomfortable. After three Bowen treatments over a month she ceased all medication and was able to control the lingering discomfort with a type of toothpaste. She was very grateful for Bowen Therapy, and could get back to living.

09.01.2022 A retired septuagenarian comes to see me a few times a year to manage an ongoing shoulder issue - the occasional Bowen treatment keeps her shoulders relatively pain free and moving, and irons out any other problems that have been cropping up over the past 4 years of so such as headaches, bowel issues, neck pain etc. The other day she remarked that she's telling everyone about Bowen because of what it's done for her lower back. Ever since she started working after leaving Uni... she had been paying chiropractors for lower back discomfort. For 50 years it had not resolved until she started Bowen Therapy. Now she considers she doesn't have a lower back problem! Sure enough, when I looked back through my notes, she's mentioned her lower back discomfort only once since early 2018, and that was after planting a lot of trees in her new garden in town, and one treatment rectified that. Sometimes Bowen sounds too good to be true, but it's certainly worth a try for anything, especially if everything else doesn't seem to have worked.

09.01.2022 The life of a mother of two secondary school children was ruled entirely around her periods, and then her children came second. Since the birth of her second child her periods had become heavier, more painful, lasting longer and more frequent. When a friend told her that Bowen Therapy might help, they were coming every 2 weeks for a week to 10 days, and during that time she was unable to leave the house they were so heavy and uncomfortable. The Bowen instructor that taught ...me the hormonal work said that it was like rolling a wheel up a hill - unless you got it all the way over the top, it would roll back down very quickly. Every body is different, so keep doing the work until the body shows you that you've got over the top. In this case it took four treatments, two weeks apart. During that time the lady's periods became less intense, with the fourth period in that time coming 26 days after the last. Since then little has changed - around every four weeks for 3-4 days, light and pain free. She is much less stressed, and the teenagers has a mother on board to help them through those turbulent years. They even go camping regularly now.

08.01.2022 At 17 weeks, a pregnant mother of three was severely nauseous with morning sickness most of the day, and had been since she was four weeks pregnant. She was struggling to maintain performance at work, vomiting on average three times during the working day, and as her pregnancy progressed the morning sickness was getting worse. She dreaded waking in the morning, everything was an effort, couldn't be involved in preparing meals for her family, and was not enjoying anything. ...She was even thinking she would have to quit work which would result in financial hardship for the family. After the first Bowen treatment, throwing up was a thing of the past. At first she was only feeling nauseous until about 2pm, and this improved during the first week to feeling nauseous only if she was hungry. After the second treatment she only had occasional episodes of nauseousness, and considered her morning sickness very mild until we started the protocol for preparation for childbirth at 28 weeks. Please don't let any beautiful mum-to-be suffer needlessly with morning sickness. Suggest they try Bowen Therapy - it might just do the trick.

07.01.2022 Bowen Therapy is becoming well recognised for its capacity to resolve chronic pain. Chronic pain simply means long-term pain, and pain is considered chronic if it lasts beyond a normal healing time of 3 months. According to the Australian Pain Management Association, chronic pain may be very complex, involving nerves, nervous systems and the brain. Often doctors are unable to identify the cause of the pain, which is frustrating.... Bowen Therapy addresses the muscular system, the nervous system and the very enervated fascia system and often fully resolves persistent long-term chronic pain in a matter of a few treatments. It requires no diagnosis or testing, and is gentle, relaxing, safe and effective. Please give Bowen Therapy a try to see if it might stop you suffering needlessly from chronic pain. It might resolve the pain, or assist you to manage the pain without medication or reduced doses (always consult your doctor when altering your medication).

07.01.2022 I discussed Chronic Pain at the start of the week, and the effect Bowen Therapy can have on it. Just to remind you, chronic pain is pain which persists for longer than the normal healing period of 3 months. The other type of pain is Acute Pain. This is the pain experienced due to trauma to the body (broken bone or injury to muscles, tendons or ligaments), and is experienced at the time of the injury and during the healing process. Normally the healing process lasts 3 month...s or less. Bowen Therapy is not only good at resolving or managing chronic pain, but may also be amazingly effective in reducing acute pain, or even resolving the reason for the acute pain. Last week I posted a story about a sportsperson with a torn muscle, and how Bowen Therapy helped his body heal that torn muscle in three or four days. Applied to traumatised tissue shortly after injury can dramatically reduce pain at the site of an accident. A middle aged lady had a fall and broke her arm. The pain was tolerable for about 30 minutes, at which stage it escalated to a level of 9/10. Some Bowen moves over the areas that were hurting reduced the pain to 2/10 and she ended up not requiring any pain relief. So if you have pain, think Bowen Therapy! Enjoy your weekend.

07.01.2022 I was at a horse breaking school a few years ago, camping at a dusty small country town show ground with the other participants. We were all woken a number of times the first night by a young lad in the camp crying out in pain. The next morning his parents explained to everyone that their 11yo son experienced severe growing pains, especially at night, and apologised for our interrupted sleep. Wondering if Bowen may help the young lad, I offered to do Bowen Therapy on thei...r son and told them a bit about it. That afternoon I gave him one Bowen treatment, and we all slept soundly for the rest of the week! I saw this young kid once or twice a year for a few years after that, and he described his growing pains as occasional aching, and they had never got as bad as they were. Please don't let kids suffer needlessly from growing pains - find a Bowen Therapist and see if Bowen helps them.

06.01.2022 I have had 3 regular clients move interstate over the last 8 months, and I miss them. Out of the blue I received a nice card from one of them this week: "Many thanks for starting me on my Bowen Journey. Over time you have made many improvements for my life by working your Bowen "magic". I will not forget your compassion and generosity in helping me through difficult times, and your genuine happiness for me in better times. I will continue my Bowen journey here, but will miss your friendship." I expect she will forge a new friendship with the Bowenista in her new hometown - we're all tainted with the same brush.

06.01.2022 Polly used to lead off easily to the right or left, and even counter canter both ways when asked. For about three weeks Mary, her rider, couldn't get her to strike off on her right lead no matter what she tried. Two Equine Muscle Release Therapy sessions restored balance and the problem was resolved. Mary also found that Polly was a lot more friendly and attentive.

05.01.2022 Elaine (not her real name) with the Elbow came in with a long story about her long-term shoulder pain. It went from her neck down through the shoulder, and at times radiated down the whole arm to her wrist. She had very little movement in her shoulder, and limited movement in her neck, elbow and wrist. She had been assured that the problem was in her shoulder, but scans and MRIs showed no problems there or in the neck. Cortisone and plasma injections into the offending j...oint had no effect. She had tried everything shed heard of over the last ten years, even hypnosis, and nothing had made any difference. She had just heard about Bowen, didnt think it would be any more effective than anything else, but was here to rule it out. She wanted to tick it off the list so she didnt ever wonder what if it had worked. Boy was she surprised. During the week after her first Bowen treatment, the pain had abated to the point that she was no longer taking pain relief, even when it radiated down the arm. After her second treatment she began to get more range of motion in her shoulder and wrist, and she rarely had the pain radiating from her shoulder. She was in no pain at all after the fourth treatment, and had full range of motion in all joints except for slight stiffness in her elbow, which was also very tender to touch. I encouraged her to go back to the doctor and ask him to consider that the problem might be in the elbow, not the shoulder. Delighted with the result, she did not get her doctor to check it out. Six months later she was in again, telling me how the pain had gradually come back over the last three months and now it was worse than ever. Her body responded quickly to Bowen. She felt a significant improvement straight away and she presented for her next treatment with only the elbow stiffness and tenderness. This time she did go back to the doctor, with a little letter from me. It turned out that a bony spur had grown in her elbow, and once that was surgically removed none of the symptoms returned. I dont think Bowen could have fixed that or could it??

05.01.2022 There is a neat little move in Bowen Therapy that assists clearing blocked tear ducts. These can be quite uncomfortable in little babies, and may be a quick and easy fix, so worth a try. I remember my auntie had blocked tear ducts for as long as I can remember. She died a few years before I learnt Bowen, and I have wondered if it would have helped her. Have a happy weekend.

04.01.2022 Trooper was a very good show jumper, but was a head shaker. Whilst he didn't shake his head when being ridden, this behaviour made it difficult and dangerous to halter, bridle and handle him, and he seemed to get quite distressed at times in the paddock. Trooper's owners were concerned that he was going to seriously hurt someone as the behaviour was getting worse. Head shaking in some horses is caused by allergies, but in most instances it is thought to be caused by an over...activity of the nerve which supplies feeling to the face and muzzle. The horse doesn't understand why its muzzle or face is tingling or painful, and shakes its head to try to relieve the sensation. During the week after Trooper's first Equine Muscle Release Therapy session, his owners had not seen him shake his head in the paddock at all, and he had not done it as they were handling him. I was disappointed that, when I entered the stable for the second treatment, he started head shaking. After the second EMRT session Trooper's symptoms returned as bad as they were before. But after the third treatment the symptoms vanished for good. Two years later Trooper is still successfully competing in the show jumping arena.

04.01.2022 A middle aged lady came to see if Bowen Therapy could help her with extreme motion sickness. Ever since she could remember she got car sick very quickly and easily, and even now became ill even when she was driving. For this reason she had never been on a plane, train or boat, and very rarely travelled out of town. After a couple of Bowen treatments she noticed that she was not feeling slightly nauseous after running the kids around to after school activities, and was actua...lly feeling hungry at dinner time. After another two visits she was feeling confident enough to plan a weekend getaway in Mudgee with her husband. Her husband drove and she did not feel motion sick all the way there and back. She enjoyed their time away so much that they were planning a family trip to Sydney when I last saw her. It was six weeks after her first treatment, and she said that she hadn't realised that the motion sickness had been effecting her appetite, energy and clarity of thought until it all got better.

03.01.2022 "Bowen has improved just about every aspect of my life!" One of the nicest things about being a Bowen Therapist is making such a difference to people's lives.... Hope you've enjoyed your job this week too. See more

03.01.2022 Another person came in last week saying that ever since they had braces their jaw cracks and sometimes even locks up. You've no idea how many people with neck or lower back pain say this to me! I've got to know that in order to relieve their symptoms properly, so they don't come back, I need to address their jaw as part of the Bowen treatment. It makes me wonder if people had Bowen treatments to get their jaws working correctly and in a good functional position before they s...tarted working with the orthodontist on getting braces, a lot of problems may be avoided down the track. I gave both my sons Bowen treatments on their jaws during the assessment phase of their orthodontist work, and watched with amusement the puzzled look on the ortho's face when he rechecked their teeth. In each case he readjusted his plan slightly for the new presentation. Both boys were out of braces quicker than expected, with their beautiful $6K smiles. The positioning of the jaw affects the balance of the body, and I observe that getting braces often coincides with a time when teenagers lose interest in sport. The last blog I wrote was about this issue. If you're interested in reading it go to my website, www.bowentherapydubbo.com.au.

02.01.2022 It is said that Bowen balances the body. I don't know what that even means, but I see Bowen balancing the body in so many different ways in my clinic. The horse riders tell me they are much more balanced in the saddle after a Bowen treatment. It is evident in the work I do with people that have the symptoms of vertigo, Menieres and motion sickness.... In some people Bowen Therapy seems to balance hormones, blood pressure and food preferences. I was talking to a colleague of mine who treats a lot of manual workers in an industry where workplace accidents are relatively common. Her regular clients in this industry have had no workcover cases in four years. She thinks that Bowen Therapy has helped their bodies to achieve and maintain their coordination, reflexes and balance so they avoid accidents both at the workplace and at home, so they go home to their families safely every evening. Coincidence - as I was writing this post, a lady that I treat occasionally came in for her appointment. She was here because she was feeling crooked and unbalanced. She walked out feeling tall, light and ... balanced. Have a balanced weekend, and stay warm.

02.01.2022 "Constant pressure in my forehead, daily headaches and frequent migraines seem to be normal for me since my stroke 5 years ago," said the 60 something year old lady in my clinic one day. She was here to see if Bowen Therapy would help her restless legs, and was delighted that after two treatments the pressure, headaches and migraines were a thing of the past. The restless legs were much harder to resolve though!

02.01.2022 Today I would like to recognise my many clients who, very generously, have given permission for me to share their Bowen cases anonymously on social media. I thank them very much for helping me to educate people about the impact that Bowen Therapy may have. People who think they have no choice left but to put up with pain for the rest of their lives have alternative in Bowen Therapy, which may help them. Along with a good diet and lifestyle, it is also an alternative way to support the body to maintain optimum health and mobility throughout life. Enjoy the weekend.

02.01.2022 Hopefully everybody hears about this and it puts a stop to this practice.

02.01.2022 On Monday one of my fellow Bowen Therapists called me asking for help. Over the last couple of days she had been experiencing escalating pain in her lower back and one of her legs, and was feeling more and more stiff and twisted in her body. She couldn't find anyone available to treat her in her town and was thinking she would not be able to work for the rest of the week. Being about 400km away, she asked me to do a remote Bowen treatment for her. Later that afternoon I did the treatment, and yesterday morning we spoke again on the phone. She was feeling much better and had just finished a light Pilates class before heading off to work.

01.01.2022 Worry and anxiety can activate your sympathetic "fight/flight/freeze" nervous system response. While this is an appropriate response in the face of danger, chro...nic activation can cause significant health issues. If you're feeling stressed, it's time to try Bowen therapy! Its gentle touches can help to downregulate your nervous system from fight/flight/freeze to rest/digest, where healing can occur. See more
