17.01.2022 Our first online games event was a success!! Massive thanks to the champions who dressed up according to our pyjama theme! We had some funding leftover due to being unable to host in-person events so our members actually received cheeky gift cards as prizes. Let it be known the PSA takes their costume competitions VERY seriously! Special mentions to the mechanical Pikachu hat and lion onesie . Pictures may not be accurate real-life depictions.

14.01.2022 We are so excited to hear the news that a physicist has been appointed as Chief Scientist of Australia. Congratulations Dr. Cathy Foley "Her research into superconductors has not only led to vast strides in improving our understanding of these materials; she has translated this fundamental research into massive commercial outcomes she really understands how the pieces come together, which is invaluable in a Chief Scientist."... -- Dr. Alan Finkel See more

08.01.2022 Celebrating #WorldScienceDay acknowledging the titans of Level 5 showing us all who's boss!! Absolute show offs! We congratulate our very own Professor Brant Gibson and Professor Andrew Greentree for winning $1.5 million in funding to develop new diamond-fibre magnetic sensors for maritime surveillance. Looking to fund the next PSA party fellas? This technology also has the potential to be applied to mining and health sectors. Learn more: http://ow.ly/24Nc50C4Cd...5. 07.01.2022 Hi everyone! There's an exciting talk coming up featuring our very own Dr Gail Iles on the dangers of radiation in space travel. Grab a ticket before they sell out! Details below. ************************************************************************************************************* SURVIVING THE JOURNEY: PROTECTING ASTRONAUTS FROM SPACE RADIATION... The Artemis program will send the first woman and the next man to the South Pole of the Moon as soon as 2024. With the exception of the Apollo astronauts, all astronauts have thus far lived in Low Earth Orbit, still benefiting from the protection of the Earth’s magnetic field, which shields all life on our planet from damaging cosmic and solar radiation. In lunar orbit, on the lunar surface, and during the 9-month trip required to get to Mars, the radiation environment is significantly different and brings associated health risks. Join Dr Gail Iles to discuss the types of radiation found in space, current methods for protecting astronauts against that radiation, and highlight emerging technologies which will need to be employed on future human spaceflight missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond. https://aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/

01.01.2022 Today is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science! Gender equality in science is a movement that is close to our hearts and we're very excited to meet, welcome, and work with all the new (and continuing) women in physics at RMIT in 2021. Geddit, qweens
