25.01.2022 Just finished doing the two fields at Narrabundah with my son Lochlain’s help! Lines are a bit crooked since we didn’t bring string but, I reckon it’s not a bad job!
25.01.2022 Narrabundah Fields - Tuesday 15 September, SustainTheAbility vs Global Rovers. Nice day out in the sun. Good football. Unlucky Sustain were once again unable to finish their opportunities and came away empty handed, losing 5-1 to the Rovers.
23.01.2022 Well, you can’t say we don’t get things done around here! Both fields at RMC are nicely marked out. Should last a few weeks!
22.01.2022 Narrabundah Fields - Tuesday 15 September, ATO United vs GA Rock Solid. Great game. Fantastic effort from both teams. Haven't heard what the final score was. Had to leave around halftime, having spent the morning dressing this field with my friend Bobby and my son Lochlain, and wanting to get back to work before they noticed that I was missing.
21.01.2022 PSFA 2020 Finals Series Week 1 - The Elimination Finals is done and dusted. Pics of the last two matches later tonight. The Week 2 Preliminary Matches will both be played on Tuesday at Yarralumla due to the imminent ACT Sport and Recreation Maintenance Shutdown Period, which starts on the Wednesday.... After that, We’ll have to play at RMC or one of the ANU Fields. I’ll keep you posted. Good luck everyone!
21.01.2022 The PSFA 2020 Competition is now over, with Industry Athletic winning the Grand Final and being awarded the PSFA Cup, and Agletico FC receiving this season’s runners up trophy, the Harry Braknys Shield. Well done to both teams. This was a thoroughly entertaining match, and of particular high quality. Quote interested observer I was wondering who was playing. These teams are well above the usual Public Service football standard. So, once again congratulations to Industry Athletic on their win, and commiserations but, well played too, to Agletico FC. Pictures of the match later.
20.01.2022 Industry Athletic defeated Agletico FC by 2 goals to 1 in the PSFA Competition 2020 - Grand Final match played at ANU Willows on Wednesday 7 October. The match was a fantastic spectacle, with both sides attacking constantly from start to finish. Agletico FC took the advantage in the first half, going into the half-time break with a 1-nil lead. However, they knew that a single goal would not be enough to win this match. Meantime, Industry Athletic had nothing to lose, and s...o, they decided to throw caution to the wind and started the second half looking for an equaliser. They soon turned the match around, scoring a goal early in the second half and, despite Agletico's efforts, eventually secured the win with a second goal towards the end of the match. Fantastic effort from both teams. Industry Athletic winning this year's PSFA Cup, and Agletico FC receiving the runners-up award, The Harry Braknys Shield. Thanks too to all the teams that participated in this year's short PSFA 2020 Competition. It was short, but sweet, and I enjoyed every moment of it. Hope to see all the teams back next season, along with all those that didn't get to play this time around. And a big thank you to our referees for the Finals Series, Willy and George. See more
19.01.2022 Here is a short video of the Preliminary match at Narrabundah (previously Kambah, previously Yarralumla) in which Agletico FC (3) defeated GA Rock Solid (0). Agletico FC in the green with gold stripes. GA Rock Solid in the red tops.
19.01.2022 In the Elimination Final match between Global Rovers and Nishi Knights, the Global Rovers run away winners with a 3-Nil result. Both teams had a few chances in front of goal but, Global Rovers managed to convert their opportunities whilst Nishi Knights will have to look forward to next season to make amends. Well done Global Rovers, whom advance to the Preliminary Final round in week two of PSFA Finals Series - Covid-19 Edition. Commiserations to Nishi Knights. and look forward to seeing you back next season.
18.01.2022 What a master stroke from the PSFA Organiser...booking ANU Willows for this Wednesday, in case of weather. The RMC fields have been closed due to the rain we are having, have had, and are about to have, Amen. So, see you all at Willows for 12:30 kickoff of the PSFA GF between Agletico FC and Industry Athletic on Wednesday 7 October. May the best team win!!!... Attached, weather forecast including chance of rain reducing markedly just in time for kick-off! So, don’t forget to wear sunscreen (UV is still high), but also bring some floaties and rubber duckies. I’ll be the one wearing a mask and snorkel.
17.01.2022 Elimination Final 4 was played on Wednesday 23 September between Industry Athletic and Finance Rovers. This was a fairly even match with both teams threatening the opposition goal frequently but, unable to convert their chances. Final score ending at nil-all and the dreaded penalty shoot-out resulted in a 4-3 win to Industry Athletic. Good effort from Finance Rovers this season, unfortunate to bow out of the competition this way. Congratulations to Industry Athletic whom progress to Preliminary Final 1 in Week 2 of the PSFA 2020 Competition Finals Series - Covid-19 Edition.
15.01.2022 For those of you wanting to see where your team sits on the ladder after Round 3here it is! Note that a few teams are missing matches so, don’t get too carried away. Also, it was casual day at my workplace today. No, that’s not methis time.
13.01.2022 A short video of the Preliminary match out at Narrabundah, with Industry Athletic (4) defeating Global Rovers (0). Industry Athletic in the red with blue stripes. Global Rovers in the black tops.
13.01.2022 The Preliminary Final match between Global Rovers and Industry Athletic started as a one sided affair, with Industry pressing hard in the first half, going into the break with a 3-nil lead. Global Rovers were shell-shocked, with the score not reflecting their efforts on the field. However, in the second half Industry didn't have it all its own way, with Global Rovers dragging the match in their favour but, not enough to make any dent into Industry's early lead. Industry Athletic victorious, finishing 4-nil up, and straight into the PSFA Grand Final. Notice the PM's plane doing a fly-over to try to get glimpse of the match.
12.01.2022 Here is the all important ladder at the end of the regular season. With any luck I got this right and the Week 1 Finals schedule is now sorted. Good luck to all the teams, and see you at Yarralumla!
05.01.2022 Round 3 Match on Tuesday 25th May at ANU's South Oval between Infrastructure Aviators and Ippyroos finished 2-0 in favour of the visitors. Thank you Tien for the great pictures. Keep them coming.
04.01.2022 Elimination Final 3 between ATO United and GA Rock Solid on Wednesday 23 September started as a one-sided affair, with GA Rock Solid sprinting away to an early lead, 2-nil at half-time. In the second half things got a bit hairy for GA Rock Solid, with ATO United putting up a fight and scoring a few late goals to finish their season with a respectable 4-3 loss. Bad luck ATO United running out of time in the end, having given GA Rock Solid a run for their money. GA Rock Solid progress to Preliminary Final 2 in Week 2 of the PSFA 2020 Competition Finals Series - Covid-19 Edition.
04.01.2022 The Preliminary Final match between Agletico FC, the defending PSFA Cup Champions and GA Rock Solid started as a tight encounter, with Agletico FC taking a 1-nil lead into the break. GA Rock Solid had worked hard to try to get even, and they continued to try salvage the match right to the end. However, Agletico FC proved too strong and added to their lead, winning 3-nil and going straight into the PSFA Grand Final for a possible fairly tale "Three-peat". Even the PM's plane was keeping an eye on this match, having heard no doubt, about Agletico FC's past two PSFA Cup wins, and wondering if they'll be able to do it once again...
04.01.2022 And so, it has come to this. Agletico FC grabbing the minor-premiers spot and now aiming for a fairytale third PSFA Cup win in a row having defeated strong contenders GA Rock solid in their preliminary Final, and Industry Athletic making a statement of their strong chances to win the PSFA Cup, having gained their spot in this Grand Final by comprehensively defeating the more fancied Global Rovers in the Preliminary Finals. This is a match not to be missed, and with crowd res...trictions having been lifted by the ACT Government just in the nick of time, we expect attendance to be in the thousands (though Willows can only accommodate a couple of hundred). No doubt both teams are looking forward to this match, which experts claim will be one of the closest encounters witnessed this side of Covid-19 and the preceding bush fires. Good luck to both teams and let’s hope that we have a clear result and that the loathsome penalties do not play a part in this Grand Final. See more
04.01.2022 What a fantastic day for the start of PSFA 2020 Finals Series- Covid-19 Edition. A bit windy but, the Yarralumla doctor was not an obvious factor in Agletico FC's defeat of SustainTheAbility 8 goals to Nil. SustainTheAbility put up a fight but, the advantage was with Agletico FC, whom were running down hill towards the lake in the first half and allegedly scored three goals. In the second half, the addition of two subs for SustainTheAbility and the run down the hill was not enough, with Agletico FC slotting in another 5 goals and SustainTheAbility missing several chances. This result sees SustainTheAbility exit stage left, whilst Agletico FC go on to the Preliminary Finals. Thank you SustainTheAbility for participating in PSFA 2020.
03.01.2022 Round two is done and dustedexcept for one match that is being rescheduled, possibly to June 8. In the meantime, here’s what the ladder looks like, after two rounds.
01.01.2022 Came out for a drive to RMC. Field is in good shape and the military are keeping an eye on it. As one of the officers said, they’re just making sure it’s nice and even for our match, if we manage to book it for the GF!
