25.01.2022 Idahobit: International Day Against LGBT+ Discrimination is celebrated on May 17th to mark the anniversary the World Health Organisation declassified same sex relationships as a mental disorder. Tragic that WHO needed to do this work but so important in supporting equality and freedom for LGBTIQA+ people around the world.

24.01.2022 Yesterday was National Sorry Day on which we remember and acknowledge the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia and review our committed action to addressing the ongoing impact of racism and inequality that has shaped life in Australia since colonisation. And today is the beginning of Reconciliation Week 2021. This years theme "More than a word. Reconciliation takes action" asks us to be braver and more impactful in our commitment to equal...ity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. I acknowledge that these are just my words but they are an expression of my commitment to suggested Reconciliation Week 2021 suggested actions. I commit to being an active accomplice in disrupting the status quo by addressing racism, discrimination, exclusion and inequality wherever I see it; to knowing and sharing the facts about Australia's history; to supporting indigenous controlled organisations and groups; to continue cultural training to ensure the places I work in are culturally safe; to more actively collaborate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people; to challenging colonial perspectives in education and professional practice, particularly in the delivery of psychology, mental health and wellbeing services; to making others aware of why reconciliation is important; to asking that places in Boorloo (Perth) that are named after people who killed and stole from Noongar people be changed; to buying from indigenous businesses; and to challenging political and community leaders to stand up, be involved and take action to protect and support indigenous families, groups and communities.
