24.01.2022 Some lovely words to use when children need guidance...

24.01.2022 Such a great picture about feelings and how they are signals to us. This concept is one that we teach as part of our STAMP is (5-7) and the Zones of Regulation ...(8-10) groups which are running this January 2019. Children will learn language to accurately describe these feelings and develop a set of tools to manage and practice regulation in a safe and fun environment. There are only a few places left in each group, so be sure to send a question through if there is anything you need clarified before booking in. Help your child start the new year with skills for great mental health and resilience! Kate :)

22.01.2022 Putting the pieces of the puzzle of our lives is important; our psychologists can assist with making sense of life.

22.01.2022 On average, more than eight people die by suicide in Australia every day. Every year, a staggering 65,000 people attempt suicide and thousands more consider tak...ing their own lives. Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Its an opportunity to collectively shine a light on suicide prevention in Australia both politically and at a community level. Everyone has a role to play in preventing suicide and choices we make today can help. You dont need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener. If you recognise any of the below warning signs in a friend or loved one, trust your instincts and get tips to assist you in having the conversation at bb.org.au/2k0oihm. Remember #YouCanTalk about suicide, on #WSPD and every day. If youre thinking about suicide, its important to keep safe. Reach out and take urgent action to get the support you need. If you need advice or want to talk things through, you can contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or the Suicide Call Back Service on 1300 659 467.

20.01.2022 Some of the best parenting tips, especially for children whose behaviours are challenging are related to our core beliefs and our deep-seated thoughts about our children. This is one of the best for starters.....

19.01.2022 Self-care includes reflection on what we do and why we do it...

18.01.2022 So much of our work on helping people with anxiety and depression touches on the critical mindset and specifically to perfectionism. Consider the photo below and try gratitude instead. Gratitude enables us to enjoy what is rather than chasing what we think (according to some external arbitrary idea) of what should be.

17.01.2022 This is the hardest video I have ever had to make but one that I have wanted to make since I started this journey, today I finally got the courage to do so beca...use I believe it can help many other parents and children around the world inshAllah. To Abdullah when you read this, I love you so much, you have changed my life in so many ways, I am proud of you and I cant wait to see all you become in this world. Love you always, Baba.

16.01.2022 Bushfire Mental Heath: Following the current bushfires there are things you can do to take care of yourself and your mental health or the mental health of someone you know. It helps to:... * excercise but not when air quality is poor * spend time with supportive family and friends * take time out but dont isolate yourself * accept help when its offered * limit the amount of media coverage you see and hear * understand you are not alone in your experience * write down your worries and concerns * express your feelings in your own time and way * know you wont have all the answers * try not to make life changing decisions until you are ready. Our psychologists can help work through fears, anxiety, grief and loss. Phone 03 9809.1234 to make an appointment.

14.01.2022 One part of learning to manage our anxiety and depression is learning not to let unhelpful negative thoughts take over our mind. One solution is to practice gratitude: this might include focus on being thankful on what we do have available to us but also to focus on being pleased about what we managed to do today even if its just one thing that we started!

13.01.2022 Yep. Mindfulness for all!

12.01.2022 If we choose to be thoughtful in how we respond we can show effective leadership in uncertain times.
