17.01.2022 MOOD FOOD || There is a strong link between the quality of people’s diet and their risk for mental health disorders. Better quality diets are consistently assoc...iated with a reduced risk of depression. These diets are rich in; - Fruit - Vegetables - Wholegrains - Nuts - Seeds - Fibre - Omega-3 fatty acids - Polyunsaturated fatty acids. Neurotransmitters are produced in our brain from nutrients that come from the foods we eat. The quality of your diet can impair or enhance the production of neurotransmitters. Improving your diet can have a positive effect on mind and mental health through numerous pathways including inflammation, oxidative stress and gut microbiota. A plant based diet rich in fiber such as the Mediterranean diet appears to be very promising in terms of protecting against depression and helping manage or even reverse it which was demonstrated in a recent small study. Look at these beautiful boxes of fresh produce from Eden's Edibles, Mangrove Mountain that were hand picked on the same day as my mood food seminar. They grow organic and pesticide free produce here on the Central Coast. Attendees were able to purchase a box to take home with them on the night. It brought such a big smile to my face knowing that people were taking a big box of medicine home with them. If you're interested in attending my next mood food seminar on the 20th of June you can purchase a ticket here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mood-food-tickets-45455912859
