24.01.2022 Have you started planning your Mandatory Practicals for Units 1 and 2? Not sure how to modify and adapt studies for your classroom? PTAQ is sponsoring workshops on how to conduct the mandatory sleep practical and mandatory emotion practical in February and March, respectively. The workshops are held in Brisbane, Ipswich, and Toowoomba and conducted by Professor Gerry Tehan from the School of Psychology at USQ. 23.01.2022 Tonight marked the inaugural psychology TeachMeet series for PTAQ and our Psychology Teachers community. It was a great forum for teachers to share ideas and network with teachers across Brisbane and the surrounding areas. A huge thank you to all our presenters this evening! Registration details to come shortly! What is a TeachMeet?... TeachMeet is a forum for teachers to share their ideas for teaching topics, concepts and skills with colleagues in an informal setting. Presentations are in macro (10 minutes), micro (5 minutes) or nano (2 minutes) segments. This TeachMeet will also include an end of Year 12 celebration to mark teachers completing teaching the FULL Psychology Syllabus for the first time EVER! Who: Any members of PTAQ and the Psychology teaching community. When: 24th October from 9am. Where: St Peters Lutheran College (Indooroopilly campus) OR Zoom if you are not located in Brisbane. Presentations are in micro (5 minutes) or nano (2 minutes) segments.... The 2nd edition will focus on: Online Learning Resources (for Psychology in general). Advice for supporting students through assessment online. How to Units 1 and 2. What to do in Year 9 and 10 Psychology. Event details: Who: Any members of PTAQ and the Psychology teaching community. When: Tuesday 7th April & Wednesday 8th April. We are offering multiple sessions across the 2 days: Year 9 and 10 Psychology Tues 7th April at 9am. Year 11 Psychology (Units 1 and 2) Wed 8th April at 9am. Year 12 Psychology (Units 3 and 4) Wed 8th April at 11am. Where: From the comfort of your own home via Zoom. 12.01.2022 Introducing PTAQ Book Club As Teachers we spend a lot of time looking for resources to inform our teaching. This year, PTAQ are introducing PTAQ Book Club to read a selection of books that are linked to the QCAA Psychology Syllabus. Each book will be set Week 1 of every school Term with regular group gatherings to discuss aspects of the book and how information from the book can inform our teaching and our lives. The final gathering will be held during school holidays b...etween school Terms. Each book will be decided by vote and we would love a member of the group to rotate being a host. Your host for Book 1 will be Renata Franco a lover of non-fiction mostly in the areas of Evolutionary Biology, Immunology and Behavioural and Social Psychology.
