25.01.2022 We are closing for the public holidays but open in between Christmas and New Years for all your physio needs! Back to normal trading hours from Jan 4th

24.01.2022 http:// SQUAT BASICS // . The humble bodyweight squat - a great functional exercise that combines work through your glutes (butt muscles), quadriceps (muscles at the front of the thigh) and hamstrings (muscles at the back of the thigh). Young or old, if you're wanting to build up some strength in your legs, you should be including squats somewhere in your exercise program. . The first video shows a hip dominant squat. Movement is initiated by bending at the hips, butt goes backw...ard and upper body comes forward. Knees stay over the ankles. . The second video shows a knee dominant squat. Movement is initiated by bending at the knees. Upper body stays upright and knees come forward past the ankles in line with your toes. . So which one should you be doing? In theory there's nothing wrong with knee dominant squats but they do bias your quadriceps and put more load through your knees. If you're getting pain with squatting or have a history of knee injury, try switching your technique to a more hip dominant style. . If you're dealing with a current knee injury or have specific rehab goals its a good idea to check in with a physio for a tailored and specific exercise program. . (Ps: Remember when it was warm enough to wear t-shirts outside? Ah the days) See more

10.01.2022 http:// Mental Health and Pain // . 2020 has been a year where most people have had increased feelings of stress, anxiety and isolation and as a result our mental health is likely to be suffering. . Mental health and physical health are closely linked. Being in a low mood can amplify pain signals in the brain and mean that you experience pain more intensely than you otherwise would.... . But physical activity and exercise can release endorphins, helping to reduce pain levels and boost your mood! . Here are some other simple activities you can include in your day to help boost your mood. Make sure you're taking some time today to look after yourself. See more

10.01.2022 http:// RESISTANCE TRAINING // Did you know that you should be aiming to perform resistance training (exercise that strengthens your muscles) at least twice a week? No access to a gym at the moment and no equipment at home? Not a problem! A lot of your large muscle groups can be trained through simple bodyweight exercises, such as the humble squat.

01.01.2022 http:// Stretching and Myofascial Release // . Got a little extra time in your day now you're staying at home? Now is a great time to dust off that sheet of stretches your physio prescribed you (the ones at the bottom of the drawer you'd completely forgotten about doing anymore ), and start working on some flexibility! .
