20.01.2022 Pete Lowery - Winner of the September quarter Traffic Controller of the Year 2014

19.01.2022 Congratulations to Ian Blore from Traffic Force in WA... Thankyou for your message to the public! Traffic Management Association of Australia (TMMA) Press Release January 2014... Winning Western Australian Traffic Control shining star! It’s official! Traffic Controller Ian Blore, from Traffic Force, Western Australia, has been chosen as the December quarter winner for the Traffic Management Association of Australia, (TMAA), and Kennards Hire National Traffic Controller of the Year Award. Ian will be flown to Adelaide in March to vie for the overall National Traffic Controller of the Year 2015 prize. Of his win, Ian said he was thrilled and that he was looking forward to meeting the other winners in Adelaide at the Traffic Management of Australia (TMAA) ‘Future Directions in Traffic Management’ Conference. I really enjoy working in traffic control, as each day and job is different and I have the opportunity to meet different people and work in different locations, some local and some remote, he said. Remote jobs can be as long as 11 days away from home, he said, and sometimes the climate and weather are not too great. Ian said the most worrying thing for traffic controllers was that motorists did not obey signs. If I could tell motorists one thing when they are approaching a traffic control site, it would be, ‘Slow Down’, he said. Ian said he would like to become more involved in training and supervision of traffic controllers in the future and noted that he would ideally like to see more user of temporary holding lines to assist motorists in knowing where to stop and to create a buffer zone for traffic controllers. KennardsTraffic General Manager Greg Pearce said, Having read Ian’s application you can hear the passion he has for job and the safety level he wants for him and his peers. It’s also great to have a WA based winner and look forward to seeing Ian in Adelaide. The National Traffic Controller of the Year will be announced by Kennards Hire at the TMAA Conference scheduled for Friday 27 March 2015, in Adelaide. ENDS For more information contact Greg Pearce on 0429 159 475 or TMAA on 1300 798 772.
