25.01.2022 There is no ONE-WAY to look after your health. . It means different things to different people at different stages of their lives. .... And whilst I make a living out of (and love) helping people work on the physical aspects, it’s always important to remember you are more than what you see in the mirror, more than the number on the scale and more than weight on a bar. . Please always remember to take your version of a beach day with the dog, what ever that may be.
25.01.2022 The term has become the new ‘mindfulness’ or ‘super-food’. Reading an abstract on pub-med and suddenly over-hauling your entire approach to client care, programs and protocols isn’t really being ‘evidence based’. Navigating the waters of scientific research is no small task. It’s filled with complexity.... If this humble students opinion can be given, the best way to be ‘evidence based’ is; read the current stuff, compare it with the old stuff, compare that to what the experts say, use what you’ve experienced and then still probably be sit on the fence But above all, be willing and ready to be wrong. My training protocols are different to my first day and that’s a good thing. But each choice and change was thought out and reviewed every step of the way and I’d love to take this opportunity to thank all the early clients that stuck it out with me while I road that learning curve. If you ask a professional a question and they respond ‘it depends’ and continue with an in depth exploration of the circumstances, then that is someone you should work with. .... All to often we are exposed to generic advice offered up as gospel, but let me be the one to assure you, you ARE in fact a snowflake. . An individual with individual needs.
18.01.2022 RPE = rate of perceived exertion RIR = reps in reserve So, now we know what they stand for, how do they work? And how do we apply these concepts. ... Basically you can use ether to track progress and prescribe intensity. Whether you know it or not you’ve been using these ideas anyway, so why not track them? It’s immensely helpful for working out progression schemes and whether or not you are working out with appropriate effort. Scale is 1-10, however, most times you wouldn’t use less than 6. If you go to complete a set at absolute failure (someone spotted you to rack or you dropped the weight) that would be a RPE 10 or 0 RIR. If you complete a set and think you could’ve done 2 more reps, that’s an RPE 8-8.5 or 2 RIR. Have fun with these concepts! Just another way to watch yourself improve! See more

12.01.2022 After 4 years of being a Personal Trainer, It is now time, to continue studying. To help my clients, be the best they can, I have to become something else. Someone. Else. Okay, so that was a fun arrow tribute... But it is true! Starting in March I’ll be studying toward a Bachelor of Health Science (Sport and Exercise Science) ... What does this mean for PT2U? Well I have to ask my amazing clients to bare with me through an ever changing class schedule for the next 3 years, a big ask I know, but I believe this will pay off in the end. As I accumulate more knowledge it will only have a positive impact on my future couching. I have been incredibly blessed the last four years and I just wish to give back and improve my services 2 you. This post is the beginning of another change for PT2U - the world is changing and my approach to social media needs to catch up. Almost every brand out there now, is far more personal, so moving forward, I will too. This won’t include a daily selfie.... 05.01.2022 PT2U’s OG transformation. First, I couldn’t do the pose this weirdo was doing with a serious face . Challenging times we are in guys. And it can be hard to keep going, trust me, I’ve had quite the pity party for myself lately. ... Motivation can be hard to find, even for those who spend their lives helping others to find theirs. So I’m sharing one of my driving forces. . This right here, is where I was, a young adult with no thought for his health, 23years old, coming in at 51kg, (XXS shirt!) unable to sleep more than a few hours, barely eating, and exercise? Forget it. And then today, 29years old, 69kg (lol) around 10%bf,(S-M shirt) exercising daily, eating awesome tasting and nutritious food. But most importantly caring about myself, my physical and mental health. . This didn’t happen in a day and it didn’t happen easily and I had plenty of help. But it did happen. 03.01.2022 Guys... I REALLY miss training you all! . As someone who loves his job this has been tough, I have zero objection to doing my part, but training clients has been a huge part of my day/week/life for over 4 years now. .
