05.01.2022 The Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, has announced a massive investment in the state's cultural capital as part of the budget. For public galleries this will include: - $1.4 billion to build NGV Contemporary - generating 5,000 construction jobs and 200 ongoing jobs (including Melbourne Art Precinct); - $34.7 million for regional creative infrastructure projects upgrades to Benalla Art Gallery and the completion of SAM; and - a new program to support suburban and regional g...alleries and museums to undertake improvements that will enable them to attract and host high-quality touring exhibitions bringing art to every corner of our state.
