24.01.2022 So you think grammar & punctuation isn't important. An 8.8 million pound payment coming up for UK government after a missing "s" on a company name puts a 124 year old company with 250 employees into liquidation. http://www.smartcompany.com.au//45468-how-one-typo-led-to-

24.01.2022 Interesting idea from #savagercsa session. Attending conferences - even interstate - using the conference hashtag. Economical way to increase your staff knowledge with minimal out of office time. Cute

23.01.2022 Next week we are running our Comms Strategy 101: Develop a Communications Strategy for a team in a government organisation. Yesterday, with our Presenter, and their comms team managers, we went through the content for the day, listened to potential and existing issues affecting strategy development across several divisions and have come up with a tailored solution - a scenario we'll use on the day - so all the comms people can participate (ie not subject area-specific). It ...gets around any sensitivities that might be involved with current strategies. We usually do significant background reading on an organisation to make sure we are across their corporate direction, so the communications strategies support the corporate goals and objectives, and mesh with each other. We're looking forward to the day!

23.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone! We hope you had a great Xmas break. We did. and we checked out our Amazon page to find our e-book is selling in the UK and Australia - via Amazon.... That's just a bit exciting... :)

23.01.2022 We just did a tour of our training rooms for an upcoming public affairs presentation to an industry group. We await their decision on whether to book in or not.

23.01.2022 We've been preparing a presentation to the Wellness Industry next week on Social Media trends. It's been a while since we got immersed in it for a previous client presentation and it is interesting to see how things have moved in a short time.

22.01.2022 1. A phone enquiry today about tailored training for a government entity with some specific issues to address. 2. A Career Brainstorming Session to be held the week after next. 3. Candidate session today with CV assessment/feedback likely to lead to a Recruitment Session (with mock interview) for someone getting interviews, doing well, but just not getting over the line to actually get the job. ... We're happy to help!

17.01.2022 From social media guru - Jeff Bullas: What NOT to do on Twitter: http://www.jeffbullas.com//25/14-twitter-mistakes-to-avoid/

17.01.2022 Yesterday we did a one-on-one Social Media training course for someone working in the community engagement space. Despite 4-5 computer crashes during the day we managed to get the Powerpoint working (alas not all the videos did, but we just moved on to demonstrating other things of interest and discussing the way to structure your online presence (how your website fits in the picture viz using facebook, twitter, and other sites). It was a nice cosy setting encouraging them t...o ask any questions they had and for us to tailor the session to what they specifically wanted. They are looking to get familiar with social media as most job selection criteria require it these days - but it's the old story: How do you get experience in it, if you don't work in it now? There's a few ways to do it...and we covered them yesterday. *** Need help with social media? ...esp if you are not exactly on the cutting edge of social media and have a loose list of terms you've heard (or maybe never heard!) eg crowdsourcing, fiverr, hashtags, handles, polling, If you need an introduction and you don't want to broadcast that you don't know much...a single "coaching" session might just be the ticket. [email protected] if you want more info or if you want us to call you about it and discuss your needs. Talk soon!

12.01.2022 Discussion yesterday with someone who'll be looking for work and is coming up against the requirement for social media skills, but is not working in an area to gain them. A common dilemma. So we proposed giving them a list of sites to look at (we run quite a few across the social media spectrum), and then showing them the administration end of a number of them (wordpress, facebook, twitter, hootsuite, pinterest for starters) and how each works. ... We'll talk about the flow of information and the channels available and how to talk about social media at interview, if you haven't been working in that area at all, but you know you need to show some SM savvy to a panel. We've got them covered. They will be able to say how fast or slow to go, get all their questions answered... and when they want us to start and stop. We suggested starting with one hour of our time, rather than preparing a tailored "course" (which we have done, but we think this approach is much less intimidating and the information is much more easily assimilated. Every question they have wanted to ask can be answered. We can do part structured and part free range so it moves them along the SM understanding spectrum. We're looking forward to it!

10.01.2022 Just completed our Brainstorming Your Career Options course. Here's the results: Course content: 4.5 out of 5 rating ... Presenter: 5 out of 5 rating. Venue: 5 out of 5 rating (Geelong Street coworking space) "This really helped me identify more clearly my skill base, things I need to do, gave me practical info on becoming a consultant, preparing a way forward. I feel more confident." "I shouldn't really eat pastries, so a bit of diet guilt!" "This met my expectations - I really needed focused help with my CV too." Our pleasure. Anyone else need help with deciding what direction to go next? We're happy to assist. If few of you want to do it together, we can put the course on again before the Xmas break...otherwise next year.

10.01.2022 Are your corporate websites mobile-friendly. If not, look out for a change in rankings from Google: http://www.smartcompany.com.au//46053-major-google-seo-upd

09.01.2022 This might be of interest to those in the new 'gig' economy and anyone who's a TEMP and not given the training that permanent staff receive: http://atchub.net//skills-shortage-gig-workforce-gets-edu/

07.01.2022 We've been out of the loop due to a death in the family. Our long term plan in relation to training and professional development is to get all our course material (our Presenters Notes) up on our website so people can access them when we don't have a face-to-face course running. We receive a lot of requests over time for particular courses, but not everyone wants to do them at the same time. ... We have a new Courses plug-in for our website and when the current rush in recruitment is over, we'll be back writing our e-book series (the other 6 in the series that are in the planning stages) and their associated e-courses (each e-book will have an associated e-course with more tips and hints on the e-book topic). FYI.

06.01.2022 If you are interested in social media statistics in the wellness industry (in the US), then this pdf might be of use -especially the ways they measure social engagement: "InfiniGraph uses three metrics to measure social engagement: FB Eng % = Facebook engagement percentage.... This is the sum of likes and comments, divided by number of fans. RT/F% = Retweets per follower. This is the number of retweets divided by number of Twitter followers. Interaction to Post Ratio. This compares the number of interactions on Facebook and Twitter a company generates, measured against the number of posts that company has shared. The higher this ratio is, the higher quality those posts are. A low Interaction to Post Ratio indicates that the company is compensating for bad interaction results with frequent, but low quality activity." http://www.marketo.com//State-of-Content-Marketing-and-Soc

06.01.2022 We've locked in for 3 December to deliver our Comms Strategy 101 - Developing a Communications Strategy for a government organisation with several communications areas. We've printed out all their comms strategy drafts to read in preparation for our meeting next week to make sure that we understand where they are currently situated viz strategy documents and how well integrated the startegies are with overall corporate direction. This is the stuff we like to do!

03.01.2022 We noticed that a few people have been looking at this Facebook page. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much interest in training, and what interest there is appears to be tailored courses for clients. One candidate recently had a meeting with us to update us on her next career move and mentioned having done three (3) of our courses in the past and how much they valued them.... If there is enough demand, we'll bring them back. Thanks for your interest.
