24.01.2022 Get outside and count those birds!!!

24.01.2022 'More important than ever...' Children getting outside everyday can ONLY benefit all involved, releases stress, strengthens immune system, opens the mind, develops creativity, brings peace and calm, the list goes on and on and on and on...

22.01.2022 We have been very busy planning our incursions (in school visits) and are now so excited to be out there visiting all our Nature Kids and Nature Detectives. I wonder if you can tell by the picture that we are all much more at home out in nature than sitting at a desk???

21.01.2022 Although the butterflies in and around natural places we travel seem to be diminishing after their initial flourish there are still some beauties to be found!

19.01.2022 Wow what a beautiful day, working with Nature Detectives they were so engaged, as curious as a curlew! One of the students (who is seen normally as a particularly quiet person but not today in the forest ) was talking so much and was just blown away by all the bird sounds. He appeared to be genuinely in awe, every time he heard one it was like the first time he was having that sort of nature connection. Ahhhh it’s just so lovely to be around these Connected Students. So thankful for this opportunity to visit their school.

18.01.2022 We are looking forward to exploring our connection to our tiny friends in the insect world! See you at Bugs'R'Us in term 4!

11.01.2022 Has anyone accessed this great resource? Although it says preschoolers it would suit up to year 1. 'Little Yarns is a co-listening podcast series for pre-schoolers. Ideal for families listening together at home or as a listening resource in early learning centres, Little Yarns explores the diverse languages, stories and countries of Indigenous Australia.' https://www.abc.net.au/kidslisten/little-yarns/

05.01.2022 This beautiful painting was created for us by Melinda Serico for the Meaning of Water Project at Enoggera Reservoir for Year 7 extension students in partnership with Seqwater. Melinda is a proud Gubbi Gubbi woman and every time we look at this work we think of Melinda and also our visits with her Father Uncle Nurdon who is a highly respected Gubbi Gubbi Elder. In this National Reconciliation Week we want to acknowledge how much Uncle Nurdon and Melinda have taught us about Li...stening to Nature and Connecting to Country. 'My name is Melinda Serico. My Aboriginal connection on my Nana’s side is from the Mary River (Kenilworth). My family are of the Gubbi Gubbi people. Producing this artwork for the front cover of The Reluctant Water Trackers has been a privilege. I have lived in The Gap since a baby, growing up exploring these hills and waterways with respect to my traditional neighbours. The painting shows the hills in the background where they would travel down to meet other clan groups for various reasons. Before the dam was built, there was a bora ring which was used by the Aboriginal people. On the left of the painting is where the creek started upstream. This was an important waterway for them when going to meet near Brisbane. The black cockatoos represent the past of the route the Aboriginal people travelled and camped. The white cockatoos at the foreground represent today, as there is an abundance of wildlife.'

03.01.2022 If would like to like to practise mindfulness with your students or at home with your children give this a go from Mind with Heart, tomorrow 2pm!
