The second artwork represents Darkinjung Ngura or country, this painting shows some of our different natural bush foods and medicinal plants that are important food sources in Darkinjung country. 13.01.2022 Our General Manager Belinda and Talent & Culture Manager Bronwyn have been fortunate enough to establish a relationship with the Darkinjung Land Council over the last 12 months, in particular with Gavi Duncan who is the Cultural Heritage Tourism Project Officer. Gavi has an enormous amount of knowledge of local stories and place and was part of the original opening ceremony of the hotel in 2006, and is a key consultant through the region. Part of building the relationship is... to increase an awareness to our team members and guests, being proud of the local first nation people and the history of the land that Pullman Magenta Shores sits on. Gavi has provided us with stories of the rich nature of this land, from explaining the Darkinjung Country and the significance of Toorongong the Whale and collaborated with celebrated artist Paul Haggith. The first artwork represents Darkinjung Ngura or country, this painting shows some of our different natural bush foods and medicinal plants that are important food sources in Darkinjung country. We found out that Magenta berry is native to this land and is endangered. To celebrate Naidoc week our guests and team members receive information on these two artworks and the stories behind them.
