22.01.2022 Atete's Hawaiian Hula Hiilawe is special to me because, I grew up near here, and surfed in this valley. And when I was married and about to give birth, I visited this waterfall. And when my first born was only 1 month old, I took him again to this place to celebrate his ancestral beginnings. And in my youth I hiked a great and treacherous distance to another waterfall in the same valley, so I could allow a thousand feet of water plummet on my head. The cleansing of Wao Akua and giver of wai wai has the power to heal the spirit. This hula, like many others, is not just a dance, it's a story told from the inside out.

08.01.2022 We are always learning new dances which express a significant part of Hawaii's rich cultural history. Today a male student came to learn Hawaiian language & we dig deeper into the mele. We found a doorway which spoke to us in our own environment. Nature will speak back if you listen. Mahalo for letting me share with you today Cuji. Look at this night it is full of constant Ka'ulia.

07.01.2022 Hiilawe is a hula about a beautiful waterfall in Waipio Valley Hawaii. I took my unborn child here and later when he was one month old to introduce him to the place of his ancestors. This place is considered one of the first for Tahitian's to have come to begin a new line of Polynesian people. I spent much of my early years surfing here and soaking up my fondness for the aina. This is my own choreography but the musician I chose for my best friend on Maui, Evoynne.

04.01.2022 Hiilawe not just a hula, it's a place. A place of my youth where I received the cleansing of a 1000ft waterfall beating down on my head. This is where Wao Akua and giver of wai wai can be felt. I surfed in this valley and when i was married brought my unborn here to Hiilawe falls. This to ensure he would know his beginnings. And when he was one month old, I brought him again to celebrate his ancestral beginnings with him. So that we never forget and continue to love our families in this place. I chose this hula to dance it from the inside out.
