15.01.2022 Exercise is a part of healthy living for everybody, but for people with Parkinsons, exercise shouldnt be seen as optional but essential. Research data supports the idea that exercise is beneficial for people living with Parkinsons. The growing belief among researchers is that Exercise can benefit in two ways; Symptom Management. Exercise can improve gait, balance, tremor, flexibility, strength and coordination.... Possibly slowing disease progression. Practicing movement, improves movement. Regular exercise has been shown to benefit people with Parkinsons by: Reducing stiffness Improving mobility, posture, balance, gait Decreasing depression Enhance memory Visit for more information: https://www.parkinsonsnsw.org.au/

10.01.2022 We have Boxing for Parkinson's at the PIT every Wednesday. Great group of people looking for more friends and training partners.. TONIGHT The Project will showcase a story about Parkinson's from 6.30 pm on Channel 10 Steve Schiemer, fitness coach and Board Member of Parkinson’s NSW was diagnosed at age 40 and will talk to The Project tonight about his diagnosis and living with Parkinson's.... I was stunned by my diagnosis because I had been repeatedly told I was too young and too fit to have Parkinson’s. Frankly, I lived in denial for about 18 months until it became harder for me to walk then I could not deny it any longer."

08.01.2022 About Parkinsons: The cause is still unknown and still no cure! It is the second most common neurodegenerative condition behind Dementia... 10-20% of diagnoses are for people under 50, often under 40 years old Symptoms vary but it affects movement, mood, sleep, speech, decision-making and socialising ability plus others Medication is available and effective to a point. It works on the use it or lose it principle. Correct, regular, challenging exercise programs can lessen symptoms. Neuroplasticity is the brains ability to adapt to injury/disease by re-organising and forming new neural connections or pathways. These pathways help lessen symptoms and can even protect the cells.

03.01.2022 In response to today's Government Announcements we have made a few more adjustments. As members of multiple Organisations, Fitness Australia has advised that outdoor teaching is fine whilst adhering to the social distancing rules. All Tai Chi Classes are still running. Pit Classes will be conducted outside. Oran Park & Wivenhoe will run as usual till notified otherwise. Unfortunately, NSW Health has asked us to suspend all our Staying Active Classes so there will be no m...orning classes or gym training for our 50+ members other than Tai Chi until further notice. We are doing our absolute best to maintain normality. We are still preparing students for the upcoming examinations which will be done a little differently... More details soon. So stay positive & focused. Thank you for your support and understanding.

02.01.2022 We have a great group of guys & girls training with us on Wednesdays 10:30 - 11:30am and a smaller group on Monday nights at 6pm...so come along and checkout a class. No Known Cause of Parkinsons disease Scientists have been unable to determine the exact cause of the disease, but it is thought that both environmental and genetic factors are involved.... Diagnosis Parkinsons disease is difficult to diagnose in the early stages as there are no specific tests for the condition. Doctors will need to perform various tests and conduct a physical exam. There needs to be two of the main four symptoms of Parkinsons disease present: shaking or tremors, slowness of movement, rigidity of the limbs or trunk, and balance issues.
