23.01.2022 12 MIN STRETCH SERIES This series guides you through stretches for some of the key muscle groups that are often short and tight such as; hip flexors, hamstrings, adductors, pecs and neck. It should leave you feeling light and limber. Enjoy! NB: This was also recorded prior to the arrival of my microphone so turn that volume up! 21.01.2022 JOSEPH'S 30 CLASS RULE Has Covid got anyone else feeling they are about 30 sessions away from where they want to be?!?! I for one have definitely let many new habits sneak in over the last few months...... far too much sourdough and far too little exercise to name two of the biggest offenders I am rustling up my motivation to re set a few of these things and will be embarking on completing the magic 30 classes that Joseph Pilates speaks of. I will keep you up...dated along the way and if anyone would like to join me I'd love your company! 19.01.2022 NEW NAME, NEW ME....... (not quite) Hi everyone, my page has been a bit quiet the last few weeks so I thought it was time for me to check in and voice a few changes You will see a name change to Pure Symmetry, a new logo and soon a website as well! I have been busily working on these changes over the past month or so (with plenty of input from my darling children - usually in the way of open hand whacks to the key board right at any critical moment on the computer ... I am mostly in a yoyo state of not knowing whether to laugh or cry haha) Other than the above mentioned changes everything else is exactly as it was and I am at the ready to dive back into face to face classes as soon as Covid 19 restrictions are lifted. As for the website, it has been a slow old road to launch off however it is coming along. The website will have general information about the business, general health information and events etc and also a class video library where you will be able to either pay per view Pilates classes or subscribe for unlimited access. This was something I had started before the onset of Covid 19 but the current circumstances really encouraged me to finalise it. I am still fine tuning a few things and it will be a work in progress for a while yet but ONE DAY (hopefully soon!) it will be ready to launch I can assure you from personal experience if you complete 20 full Pilates classes in a matter of days (like I did while filming) you will have VERY sore muscles! haha - I would not recommend! 17.01.2022 20 MIN ABS, GLUTES, UPPER BACK This 20 minute Pilates video takes you through a series of guided exercises aimed at strengthening the abdominals, gluteals and upper back muscles. It is the perfect go to workout to squeeze into a busy life and will help to maintain core strength and stability. I hope you enjoy NB: I can’t tell you how relieved I am for this to finally be uploaded- after literally spending the whole weekend battling slow upload speeds and upload freezes Thankyou for your patience recording skills can only get better from here right!?!? 16.01.2022 ONLINE CLASSES COMING SOON In more exciting news I want to let you know that I am working on an online class video library so you can all keep your practice up at home. This has been a rather difficult project to complete while in lockdown with two toddlers but I am slowly making headway. The optimist in me hopes to have some content available in about 2 weeks time In the mean time I will aim to post a couple of short videos on Facebook to give you something to work on while I geek out typing code and trying to unveil some IT skills .... my first two attempts at this where sabotaged by cheeky toddlers and a barking dog I’m confident this weekend is finally my weekend we can only hope! 15.01.2022 18 MINS ABDOMINAL SERIES This series will guide you through a sequence of exercises targeting the abdominal muscles. It begins with some gentle activation exercises and continues to layer exercises to really work your abdominal muscles. Suitable for beginner to intermediate provided you start at the base level and only progress if you are able to maintain good technique. I hope you enjoy You may notice a change of scenery for this class I have to confess it was being recorded to go on the new website when its finished but i may have forgotten to turn my Mic on haha so yet another class that you will have to turn your volume up! 15.01.2022 GIVE BODY ACHES AND PAINS THE FLICK You might be surprised to hear that many aches and pains that we feel in our body are a result of sedentary living and resulting poor muscle strength.I have recently reminded myself just how much my body relies on regular movement to stay pain free and in good working condition. I posted recently about how I had become lazy during covid and had let my exercise regime slip (yep happens to the best of us ) along with ...this I was beginning to experience lower back pain, aching back when sleeping, tension in my jaw and my neck and shoulders. All of these are very clear signs to me that I had let my muscle strength deteriorate to a point where my muscles were no longer strong enough to support my body effectively - the result PAIN! As muscles become overworked they become tight which restricts blood supply and can cause painful trigger points, referred pain and aching as well as joint pain due to lack of support. At this point many people make the mistake of doing less activity because they are in pain however in truth often the best way to reverse this scenario is to build strength and start moving the body - try it you will be amazed how much pain you can reduce by simply exercising your body, after all we were born to run It doesn’t have to be a specific type of exercise, do what you enjoy. Walking, jogging, yoga, swimming are all great to get things started. I find this short full body Pilates class is a great re set class which I use often and great to do at home - best of all its effective and only takes 20 minutes give it a try, I’d suggest twice a week as a minimum but anything is better than nothing Enjoy! 15.01.2022 HORSE KICK (OR HORSE RIDE ) I often get asked if I do Pilates at home. The answer is sort of...... it usually starts out strong but after only a few minutes it turns into a circus anyone with small children can likely relate to what seems to be a magnetic attraction for kids to climb on you as soon as you get down to ground level. If this is the case for you, don’t despair there are SOME positives! Focus on the increased weight resistance , enjoy the cheeky giggles and remember you are inspiring healthy habits in your children (It’s safe to say there were minimal reps completed with this load on board )

13.01.2022 KEEPING YOUR EXERCISE ON TRACK Ok I'm going to be honest here....I started strong with my 30 classes but alas I fell off the rails when life got busy I felt it was important to share this as even as an instructor and someone who fully appreciates the value of regular exercise I have managed to let my exercise routine fall apart - it is so easy to do and can happen to anyone. So I thought I would offer some tips to anyone who may have also found it difficult to mai...ntain a regular exercise program and help you get back on track; 1. Set a goal - You will be amazed how making yourself accountable really increases your drive to stick to your exercise program. It can be a simple goal such as; I want to be able to walk up a flight of stairs without pain/puffing, I want to be able to lift my young child without experiencing back pain, I will exercise at least x amount of times/minutes per week for x weeks, I want to be able to fit into that dress by Christmas etc Just make sure your goals are measurable i.e. you can easily determine whether you have or haven't achieved them. 2. Schedule a time - this can be a specific time such as 6:30am every Wednesday and Friday or it can be more general to allow for variables in your life such as I will commit to 45 mins twice a week. Of course the more specific your schedule the less likely you are to procrastinate and potentially get to the end of the week and find yourself doing two sessions back to back. 3. Find a friend - Finding someone to commit to the same routine as you or to exercise with will drastically increase your accountability and therefore the likelihood of staying on track with your exercise routine. You don't even need to be in the same physical location as the other person, just so long as you check in with each other and keep each other accountable this will work fine. 4. Reward yourself for showing up - Even if you dont perform like you had hoped or you got interrupted and didn't finish make sure you focus on the fact you showed up and had good intentions rather than dwelling on what might have gone wrong. 06.01.2022 I am sad to say that I have made the tough decision to cease the delivery of all Face to face Pilates classes at this time. I will be monitoring future announcements from the health department and will re commence classes as soon as it is deemed safe. I am continuing to assess if there is demand for classes to be delivered either online or outdoors and will keep you updated via this page. For those of you that have booked in advance, I will begin to refund you over the course of this week. No future online bookings will be able to be made at this stage. I have contacted my payment processing company and they said they are experiencing huge volumes of covid 19 related refund requests from many industries and it is averaging 7 business days for funds to arrive in customers accounts (but it could be longer or shorter than this).
