25.01.2022 WORKOUT OF THE WEEK This weeks workout Is short, tough and very intense. WOW... For time complete 100 calories on the assault bike. *Every 20 calories stop and complete 8 x barbell thrusters at roughly 30kg/40kg. This savage little session can be done in a workout alone or if you really want to test yourself, do it as a nasty finisher after your weights program. 24.01.2022 KB Swing The kettlebell swing is a very explosive and ballistic exercise used to train the entire posterior chain. It holds a high reputation for being one of the most impactful exercises that can be done inside the gym as it involves every muscle group to fire up and activate for it to be done safely and efficiently. It can be extremely effective in training your cardiovascular and muscular system both at the same time whilst also improving your balance, coordination and ov...erall athleticism. This exercises is a game changer and has to be one of our staple exercises at Purebred fitness. We implement this key movement in most of our strength and conditioning classes and the results truly speak for themselves. How to execute a perfect KB swing; 1. Start by standing directly over the kettlebell and squat down to pick it up. 2. Once you have the kettlebell in your hands, retract your shoulders and keep your arms long and elbows locked. 3. Look straight ahead and avoid looking down. 4. Initiate the movement by keeping your back straight and pushing your bum back into a hinge position which will lengthen out the glutes and hamstrings. 5. By pushing through your legs, you want to drive and extend your hips forwards until your standing fully erect. 6. The kettlebell should swing through like a pendulum motion and finish with arms parallel with the floor. 7. Repeat.

23.01.2022 SPRING INTO SUMMER CHALLENGE A huge congratulations to all the participants that took part in our recent 6 week challenge. There has been some amazing progress made, obstacles overcome and goals reached and we are so proud of this groups effort and consistency throughout the entire challenge. Across the board each individual attained some tremendous results and built some long lasting healthy habits that will continue to serve them but something the coaches were most impress...ed with is the fitness level of the entire group. Everyone smashed their fitness testing and now bring a whole new level of intensity into each session they do. Winner of the Spring Into Summer Challenge goes to @jacktaplin95 with a massive 11.1kg weight loss, maintained all muscle mass and dropped 6.4% body fat. Biggest transformation award goes to @jackridoutt. He lost an overall impressive 8.9kg, built 700g muscle mass and dropped 6-7% body fat. 14.01.2022 This morning we smashed out our first ALL IN challenge session down at Cronulla sand dunes. Every single participant showed up today with complete focus and determination to get to that finish line knowing that they gave it their very best effort. Taking into account that everyone’s fitness levels and ability is different, collectively the entire team fought all the way to the end and it was incredibly inspiring to see the group in the hurt locker and still manage to find a way to push through the pain and make it to the top. The coaches are so pumped and proud of the entire groups performance today but know the best is still yet to come. Bring on the next challenge session!

14.01.2022 INGREDIENTS 120g Brown Rice 40g Chopped Celery 40g Red Capsicum 30g Peas... 50g Sliced Mushrooms 50g Carrots (cut into half circles 100g Chicken Breast (cut into cubes) 2Tbsp shallots finely chopped 1/4 Diced White Onion 1 Clove minced garlic 2 Tsp Tamari 1 Tsp Sriracha 1 Tsp Olive oil Salt + Pepper Hack: if you are vego, swap out the chicken for tofu or beans INSTRUCTIONS 1. Prepare vegetables and chicken 2. Prepare rice as per packet instructions and set aside to cool 3. Heat a wok over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Add onion and garlic and sauté until softened. Combine all other vegetables in wok. 4. Reduce heat and add cooked rice, tamari and sriracha. Mix together cooking for 2-3 minutes. 5. In a seperate pan, add diced chicken or choice of vego protein and cook until cooked through. Season with salt + pepper. Additional tamari may be added to chicken for extra flavour. 6. Once cooked, add chicken or vego protein to fried rice, stir through and garnish with shallots.

06.01.2022 BOX JUMPS 1. Stand in front of the box with your feet shoulder-width apart. 2. When you’re ready to jump, drop quickly into a quarter squat, then extend your hips, swing your arms, and push your feet through the floor to propel yourself onto the box. 3. Land as elegantly onto the box as possible and make sure you stand tall at the top of the box with all joints locked out.... 4. Step down and repeat. Box jumps target all of the muscle groups of your lower body, including your glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, and calves, working together to enhance power and strength. Beyond the lower body though, box jumps also require strong engagement of the core and a swinging motion of the arms, turning them into a full-body exercise. 05.01.2022 How to perform a conventional barbell deadlift 1. Set your feet up to shoulder-width apart and close the gap between your shins and the barbell. 2. Hinge down towards the barbell keeping your back straight and chin down. 3. Position your hand's thumb width away from your legs and lock the bar into the body tightly.... 4. Create tension in the barbell by retracting your scapula and squeezing your arms into your body like your trying to snap the barbell around your legs. 5. Once you have got full-body tension, push the floor away and drag the barbell up against the body driving your hips towards the bar. 6. Once your joints are all stacked you can safely dismantle by pushing your bum back and lowering the weight back down to the floor. 7. Release, take a breath in and start again. One thing that is always underestimated is the importance of a thorough warm-up which should always include the correct activation and movements of the important muscle groups such as; entire abdominal wall, hamstrings, shoulders, lats, back extensors and glutes. 04.01.2022 This morning we had our first ever @purebred.fitness Games Championship - participants had to make their way through 3 phases; Body weight Blaster, REV THAT ENGINE and Death by dumbbell. The winning team was based on a variable of factors including; the greatest number of reps for time, fastest to complete and rounds for time. There was some fierce competition, a tonne of laughs, always some pain but so much teamwork and encouragement. What an awesome way to celebrate our Christmas Eve.
