25.01.2022 Pure Community Q1, 2021 Just as there is never a shortage of causes that need attention, there is never a shortage of great organisations that need money to continue their important work. So, we’re starting the year off right with Pure Community’s first donations for 2021. This quarter, we’re giving to: Environs Kimberley - For the Planet ... The Kimberley region is home to some of the world’s most pristine tropical coastline and woodlands and, if you’ve ever been lucky enough to visit, you know how important it is to preserve and protect this sacred land. So, we’re giving to @environskimberley the peak environmental NGO dedicated to looking after the health of the land and waters of The Kimberley region. Black Rainbow - Paying the Rent In the Aboriginal community, intentional self-harm is the most common cause of death for people aged between 15 and 34. If the risk wasn’t already high enough, it’s even more pronounced among those who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex. So, we’re giving to @blackrainbowaus as they pursue positive health and wellbeing outcomes for First Nations LGBTIQ+ communities. As always, a very big #thankyou to all of the people working hard to make a more just and equitable world. It’s an honour to support your work in ways both big and small. 23.01.2022 You might remember back in May + June, #purecommunity supported @protectningaloo as its #1percentfortheplanet donation recipient, as they fought to protect the waters off Ningaloo Reef and Shark Bay from oil and gas exploration. Well, in some incredibly welcome news announced on Tuesday, Subsea 7, the global oil and gas services company that proposed to build a large pipeline fabrication facility and towing operation in Exmouth Gulf, indicated that it had withdrawn the projec...t. @protectningaloo Director, Paul Gamblin said, This is a victory for nature, for the community, for common sense and for the future. To those tens of thousands of people who sent a submission, emailed their MPs, bought a t-shirt or helped in innumerable other ways, they should feel really good about what has happened. The campaign to stop industrial development in the Gulf isn’t quite over but today is for celebrating! . A huge congratulations to the team at @protectningaloo for this incredible outcome, and to everyone in the #purefinance community, thank you for helping us make finance a force good. . . . #protectningaloo #planetoverprofit #financeforgood

23.01.2022 Ordinarily held in July, but moved to November due to the pandemic, the theme for this year’s #NAIDOCweek is: ‘Always was, always will be’ and recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists... It’s about se...eing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country - which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded. - naidoc.org.au This week, and every week, we acknowledge and pay our deepest respects to the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live and work: the Gadigal people of the Eora nation. We know that our industry has been directly responsible for the continued dispossession of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and this year, we committed to donating 1% of revenue to Pay the Rent. We encourage you, no matter where in Australia you live, to find out the true history of the land on which you stand. . . #alwayswasalwayswillbe #NAIDOC #NAIDOCweek #NAIDOC2020 #paytherent

20.01.2022 Pure Community | Q3, 2020 . With many great causes in need of our support, and a myriad of complex social and environmental challenges every which way we turn, it can be hard to know where to start in terms of giving our time, money and attention. But we can do hard things. And we can make change, together. If #2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we can’t make meaningful steps forward while some of us are still held back or pushed down. So, this quarter, we’re continuing o...ur commitment to donating #1percentfortheplanet and to #paytherent by donating to: The Bushfire Foundation Inc. - a registered charity and volunteer-based organisation that works with families, individuals and communities, helping to prepare and equip them to face the upcoming bushfire season. #changetherecord - who are on a mission to end the incarceration of, and family violence against, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, which is devastating lives and communities. . 19.01.2022 Were you one of the 800,000 Australians who pressed pause on their home loan when the pandemic hit earlier this year? As we come to the end of the six month ‘repayment pause’, banks are starting to reach out to customers and determine the next steps for resuming payments. . The good news is that the Australian Banking Association has announced that they would grant a further four-month extension to customers needing more time to get on their feet. However, there are a few things to bear in mind before you try and take advantage of the extra time. So we've put together a little something to help you navigate this next period. Read it here... . #repaymentpause #loanrepaymentpause #COVID19 #purefinance #financeforgood

11.01.2022 Pure Community | Q3, 2020 . As part of our #1percentfortheplanet commitment this quarter, we’re also giving to Wild Things documentary which follows a new generation of environmental activists that are mobilising against forces more powerful than themselves and saying: enough. Following a year in the footsteps of School Strike 4 Climate, Stop Adani and Save The Tarkine Campaigns, interwoven with past landmark environmental campaigns, this film is set to show that every action... counts and individuals can make a difference. . Set to premiere in cinemas across Australia this November, the team is aiming to raise $35,000 to fund the film’s education and outreach strategy through online crowdfunding platform POZIBLE and we’re thrilled to contribute to the campaign. With only 5 days left to reach their campaign target, the team are offering some fabulous rewards for anyone that donates to the cause, and every little bit helps! . To learn more, or to follow the incredible journey of this new generation of environmental activists, you can follow them over on Wild Things documentary and to donate yourself, head to the link here. bit.ly/3lGLMSS . . #purecommunity #financeforgood #1percentfortheplanet #wildthingsdocumentary #schoolstrike4climate #activism See more

09.01.2022 This #nationlsorryday we acknowledge and recognise the immense harm suffered by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children of the Stolen Generations: children who were forcibly removed from their families by racist government policies, that left them disconnected from their kin, culture, languages and country. And while the landmark ‘sorry’ speech delivered 13 years ago by then Prime Minister Kevin Rudd was a meaningful first step, we must acknowledge that it was only... that: a first step. Today, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are nearly 10 times more likely than non-Indigenous children to be in out-of-home care, an over-representation that has increased consistently over the last 10 years. (Source: The Family Matters Report, 2020) As we head into National Reconciliation Week, today and every day, we acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora nation as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work. We acknowledge the pain and suffering they have endured at the hands of a colonial history, but also, their strength and resilience as they continue to nurture a land and culture that has existed for more than 60,000 years. We also acknowledge that saying sorry can only be the start of the journey.
