12.01.2022 Dog eats sand = danger! This is a warning for those that take their dogs to sandy beaches. Rose had lagged a little behind and when I turned to see her she was digging in the sand and eating something. It probably lasted less than a minute. When we got home last evening she vomited many times and there was lots of sand in it. Fortunately I checked on the internet where it said that this is very dangerous and to seek medical treatment immediately so we rushed her Vet. Th...ey took her in and said it was very good that we took her as sand quickly compacts in the intestines with the dehydration from vomiting and death can follow. They kept her there and we got home at 3 am. We were so worried and did not sleep all night. Fortunately she did well over night and was released this afternoon. When I saw the copy of the x-ray I was shocked at the amount of sand in her abdomen and intestines. Today it is nearly gone. The vet said it can only take a minute for them to consume that much sand. I had never heard how dangerous sand can be and this is my tenth dog. It can also be consumed off a ball wet with sand or from licking their feet. I am posting this so others know. See more

12.01.2022 SsHhhh . . . . Can you Keep a Secret? We've had an Extra Special Christmas wish for Santa this year. That he'd have the Reindeer deliver some furry little bundles of Joy. Well . . . Zuri has a sparkle in her eye . . . Thank you Santa & Reindeers for our early Christmas Present - now the waiting has begun for these very special brown furry bundles of scrumptiousness to be born. Merry Christmas everyone!

10.01.2022 Stay safe all the Melbourne folk in lockdown. Great training opportunities - I’ll try to post a daily training activity during this lockdown. Day 1 - use food times as 1st base training for sit, stay, drop and come. Don’t put the food in the bowl. Hold it. Say ‘working’ or ‘watch’ - move the food from their head area to your eyes so you have pups attention. Then give one word command & hand signal. Reward with small food item. Use their name as well so you fully have their attention. Eg ‘Ruby watch’; ‘Ruby sit’. Good luck send me a short video or questions.

05.01.2022 Now that the weather is warming up please watch out for Ticks. They are different colours and sizes. To remove use tweezers at base pushing skin in and clamping until they drop off. I've also heard Ti-tree oil or alcohol will work.

04.01.2022 Just a memory note - we have been a member of Dogs Victoria since 01/02/1994. Many wouldn’t know this. 03.01.2022 Zuri and Ruby have new beds. Thanks Shane with Louis for putting us onto these. The girls love them. Zuri is looking upset cos Ruby has the best snuggled in zone. They do have their own but often I find them together. If something is missing in the house - inevitably its been coveted in the back of the cave bed.
