02.01.2022 Our water is full of microplsatics!!! Did you know that we ingest a credit card a week? 2000 Particles Per week or 5 Grams Worth. If you drink bottled water, however, recorded concentrations were far, far higher.... A 2018 study of bottled mineral water found concentrations of about 5000 particles per litre in reusable plastic bottles. There has not yet been enough studies to show the long term health effects of us increased ingestion of microplastics, nor however some of the main concerns are: - how the toxic and carcinogenic chemicals used to make these plastics effect our body - how heavy metals build up on the plastics and then enter our body - how microplastics effect our body long term by lingering in our organs and bloodstream It will be interesting to see how microplastics unfold over the next 5 to 10 years as more research emerges to show us how they are effecting us.
