24.01.2022 Just delivered, 1000 litres of recycled iso 68 hydraulic oil, with an iso 4406 cleanliness code of 14/10/8 compared to a new oil standard of 20/18/15 this oil has approx 62.5 times less particles than new oil (62.5 times cleaner). 17.01.2022 This is what is lurking in your oil, this is the sludge collected from the centrifuge (centrifuge = particle/water/oil separator), dirt laden oil is being pumped around your entire system A simple oil change won’t remove particles in your system. This Sludge is just from the centrifuge, I capture more with filtering down to 1 micron The sludge is an accumulation of particles that can not be seen individually, the Majority of particles are too small for a normal filter to catch and are chipping away at Seals and components. 17.01.2022 I just cleaned the hydraulic oil system on a 50 ton excavator at Melbourne Tractors. I have to give a big shout out to the team at the campbellfield site, they understand the importance of clean oil in their systems, it saves them time and more importantly it means the machines are more reliable for their customers. I performed a little demonstration on the importance of cleaning the entire system NOT just changing the oil in the tank. (first photo) First bottle on left is in...itial sample from machine it contains 168,000, 4 micron particles per 1ml of oil, I then cycled the tank only, simulating a standard oil change, second bottle now contains 54,000 4 micron particles (almost to new oil standard). Then we ran the machine (all hydraulics) the third bottle now contains 145,000 4 micron particles. The oil in lines and cylinders have now contaminated the oil in the tank almost back to the start. I cleaned the entire system another 5 cycles (last photo) and brought the oil cleanliness down to under 3000, 4 micron particles per 1 ml of oil (filtered new oil standard = cleaner than new oil). 14.01.2022 Maintain your oil to an ISO 19/17/14 (filtered new oil) standard and extend your oil life by up to 5 times, extend your component life by up to 5 times as well. This simple Preventative maintenance measure can also arguably, more importantly save on down time as you enjoy less breakdowns.
