25.01.2022 T H I S I S... Bellbrook Community Hall. And the only decent photo I took yesterday lol! Next time I’ll have to make a point to have someone take some photos for me... ~ I had the honour of hosting an ayurvedic cooking workshop for some beautiful women yesterday in this cute little hall. ~... A space where we came together, prepared a meal and connected with each other. ~ In these uncertain times and with all that these beautiful women have been through in the past 12 months it was so great to get the community together. ~ We sat outside and soaked up the beautiful sun as we ate, shared stories and learned about some ayurvedic wisdom. ~ It was a truly beautiful day. A huge thanks to Beth and Bec from the Kempsey Shire Council’s Bushfire Recovery team for all of your support yesterday and on the lead up to the event. 25.01.2022 P R O C E S S I N G... Feeling all the feels today. ~ Grief is a funny thing. It hits you even when you’re at a cafe trying take a moment and enjoy a cup of chai. ~... I stepped away from supporting one of my oldest and closest friends and her family today who are dealing with an enormous loss to gather some essentials to nourish my body and take some time out to nourish myself. ~ Pain, uncertainty and loss are such huge things to deal with. And all of us are going through this in our own ways. ~ Maybe you’ve lost your identity due to major changes in your life like losing your job or business. ~ Maybe you’re so uncertain about the future that you are fearful and in constant stress. ~ Maybe you are overwhelmed with grief and are also riding the waves. ~ I was reminded this morning that everything is a cycle. Birth, stages of life, death, seasons. ~ A natural and inevitable process. ~ I am so grateful I can draw on my spiritual and personal rituals, and connection to help me through times like these. ~ Make sense of unseemly difficult circumstances and see it from a different perspective. ~ It helps me to understand and navigate all of the pain and continue with strength to support those I love while maintaining support for myself. ~ RIP Josh xx . . . . . #grief #loss #emotionalrollercoaster #ptsd #spiritual #naturescycles #lifecycle #death #pain #suffering #wavesofemotion #ridingthewaves #change #dealingwithchange See more
25.01.2022 T H I S I S... Pierce Bronson (not to be confused with the actor Pierce Brosnan, much more handsome - if that's possible). ~ He chose his name. It came to me in meditation and I tried to shorten it to one of the names and not the other, but it wasn't till I used both together that he responded. ~... He's my fur-child & bestie! Never far from my side. Cheeky and loves to explore. I tried to keep him as an inside cat but he wouldn't have it and bursts out the door at any given moment. ~ When he went missing the other week and I was beside myself. It isn't like him to be out long, he loves his food too much for that! I contacted my awesome neighbours and the local vet and pound. No one had seen him and I was starting to think that he wasn't coming back... ~ Thankfully, after more than 24 hours he returned. He was so bruised, battered and scared that I took him to the vet as soon as I could. He hasn't fully recovered but is on the mend. ~ It got me thinking about PTSD and how it affects people more than they realise. When something happens it becomes a part of our make up or belief systems, especially if we don't heal the wounds. It can become a new norm, kind of like all that's happening with that at the moment with the new restrictions. ~ There is so much fear and he is so jumpy that he can't even relax in his own home where he is safe when the door is open or a weird noise is outside. ~ Luckily for us humans we can re-wire our brains and help to release the traumas of the past. I'm not sure about PB though. 22.01.2022 H A P P Y S U N D A Y When was the last time you watched the sunrise or set? The sun is the giver of light and life.... Sun helps plants to grown which nourish and support us. Gazing at the sunrise can help reduce depression. Being in tune with nature and rising before the sun helps with our sleep cycles/circadian rhythms. It gives us vitamin D which supports and nourishes us. Many traditional cultures worship the sun and have cultural stories about its power. In yoga, the sequence Syria Namaskar (salute to the sun) pays reverence to the sun and is recommended as a daily routine in ayurveda. Paying respect to and honoring the sun helps us gain a greater connection to all areas of life. It is healthy to get small amounts of sunlight on our skin without sunscreens. Go out in the early Morningstar late afternoon and avoid getting burnt. Cover up in the middle of the day when the sun is at its strongest. What’s your favorite? Sunrise or sunset? I’m so honoured to be hosting a workshop for the bushfire affected women in Bellbrook this coming Thursday. ~ A huge thank you to the @kempseyshirecouncil for holding these events, there’s something for everyone!... ~ I’ll be cooking up some delish ayurvedic meals for lunch and will be focusing on teaching these beautiful women how they can release deeply held stress and trauma through diet, lifestyle and breathing techniques. ~ In the past 12 months alone, they’ve been through droughts, fires, storms, and then COVID. ~ I’m sure even the most resilient of people would be feeling the stress that these times have caused. ~ So it’s their turn to put their feet up and have someone nourish them! Mung Lentil and Veg Soup ~ It’s kapha season and even though soup is more of a vata season meal, I’ve made it a bit of a thicker consistency so I can still enjoy it without putting myself out of balance. ~... Ayurveda is all about changing with the seasons and eating in accordance to your dosha and imbalance to maintain health. ~ I started eating more ayurvedically when I had some health issues and nothing else seemed to work. ~ I knew that food is medicine but had no idea of where to start. I’d tried so many different diets and found most of them too restrictive and not a long-term solution. ~ The difference with ayurveda is that once you learn the different energies and how they impact you, you can adapt the approach to most meals that you like. ~ Not sure what’s right for you and want to learn more? 08.01.2022 Often, when I go out walking I get inspiration and messages come through and this morning was a good day for it! It came in thick and fast. I often record this wisdom so I don’t forget it, and giggle to myself when I wonder what people might think of me when they see me talking to myself This morning’s wisdom was and oldie but a goodie - The way you do one thing is the way you do everything.... Think about it for a moment. Ask yourself how are you going about things in your life? Are you a bull at a gate rushing around to get things done, do you avoid certain things because they aren’t enjoyable or comfortable, or maybe you try too hard to be perfect and are serious all of the time, missing out on all the fun along the way. Whatever it is, you can start to take small steps towards change and it will have a huge impact on your life overall. It’s like a ripple effect. What would you like to bring more of into your life? Or what would you like to change and leave behind?
