24.01.2022 Facials are great for teens too! Not to mention a great way to keep break outs at bay! Hormonal issues, such as oily skin, reddened or sensitised skin and acne can start to appear from the age of around 13 ( as I know only too well! ). A professional facial can be a great opportunity for someone other than Mum or Dad to give some guidance on basic skin care and creating a simple, healthy and realistic routine for life. Also education on sun safety and skin warning signs :). I... feel it is tough for young people to navigate, as we are bombarded on social media with skin care products and advice.. there’s always a temptation to have or do what your bestie is doing ( which may not suit or help you ). As I have mentioned, having been a teen acne sufferer, I truley understand the impact that ‘bad skin’ can have on your self esteem... I used to often talk from behind my hand .. and felt that people were looking at my pimples! The best thing my Mum did for me was to take me to an Elizabeth Arden ‘Red Door’ salon when I was 14! I got so much out of speaking to the skin care specialist there.. I remember feeling so grown up and special. Not to mention the boost to my self esteem from the clearing effect the facial had on my skin! Plus giving me my own products and routine to follow made me feel more confident and in control! 17.01.2022 Why is a consistent skincare routine so important ? Having been an Acne sufferer since the age of 14, I have really learned the value of a solid and consistent skincare routine You can have all of the beautiful products you like, but they are not going to do much sitting in your bathroom cupboard...You have to use them! .. By the same token using the wrong products for your skin condition, or using them incorrectly by combing them with products that work against them is ju...st as ineffective ( not to mention a waste of time and money ). After years of working in mental health and with people in general, I truely believe that as much as the eyes are the window to your soul.. the condition of the skin on your face can say a lot about the way you are feeling about yourself, and likewise the condition of your skin can affect the way you feel about yourself... it’s so visible!
