05.01.2022 Bamboo is usually associated with being green and sustainable and it seems some coffee cup manufacturers are using this reputation to their advantage. Sadly, according to this article, it may be a little misguiding for consumers as bamboo coffee cups are actually a mix of bamboo, glue and plastic that contain formaldehyde and melamine! Furthermore, they are not designed to hold hot liquids and test have shown that repeated use with hot liquids can result in dangerously high levels of these toxins becoming present in your drink! They also are not biodegradable, compostable or recyclable as you might assume. My advice? 01.01.2022 Firstly, I want to just say how heavy my heart weighs with the toll this bushfire season has taken and my condolences go out to all our impacted communities. My home town of Batlow was severely impacted last weekend so I can empathise with what these communities are experiencing and it’s just absolutely devastating. . Those not directly effected by fire may be experiencing a daily reminder in the form of smoke. I know Canberra in particular has suffered from extremely poor ...air quality recently, at times earning the ranking of worst air quality in the world for several days in a row! . This is concerning for residents especially to the vulnerable within these smoke effected areas such as those with pre-existing respiratory or heart conditions, the elderly, young children and pregnant women. . I want to share with you a solution for your home or workplace at least. I have been in love with these air filters for some time. They are the best in the world in my opinion, and this particular model is especially designed to eliminate smoke from the air along with many other pollutants including chemicals, bacteria & viruses, allergens and mould. . The main difference is the amount of carbon in their filters. Activated carbon works like a sponge to absorbs the ultra-fine particles in smoke. Most air filters contain very little- a pad a few mm thick at best. The Airpura has an 8kg enhanced carbon filter which is 5cm thick! They also come with a pre-filter and a pressure sealed HEPA filter making them efficient at eliminating 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns! . Made in Canada to an extremely high standard, they are, unfortunately, very expensive to import to Australia which is why I have held off adding them to my product range... until now! .
