04.01.2022 Our client in Peregian Springs presented to us as they were experiencing thatch and compaction issues with their Sir Walter Buffalo lawn. No matter how much the client was watering, the turf just wasn’t holding water like it used to when it was first laid. We conducted a lawn evaluation and came to the conclusion that a Lawn Renovation would be the best way to tackle the problem. ... Don’t worry the client was warned that their front yard would look like a golf bunker for a couple of weeks (thankfully he is an avid golfer)! We removed the thatch, punched some deep core-plugs with our Billy goat aerator, top-dressed with a high quality washed sand as to not introduce any new weed species and complimented this with a professional product application. A professional wetting agent was used to ensure that water could effectively penetrate the soil. Today we gave our super supportive client a complimentary cylinder mow and the results can be seen in the attached photos. The photos and results below are over a 5 week period. 03.01.2022 Our client in Buderim presented as an avid lawn enthusiast. The goal was to give him a patch of turf that he could be proud of. The before photos provide some insight into the state of the lawn before we commenced work. This was a highly involved and technical lawn. Unfortunately the turf preparation performed before laying the turf was incredibly poor. We stumble across this time and time again and can’t stress enough how important PROFESSIONAL turf preparation is before l...aying to ensure the turf the best chance to thrive. We will visit this in much more detail in a post to follow. The lawn variety was Buffalo and the challenges we faced were as followed. Shallow to little sub soil, extensive weed banks with a vast variety of weeds, compaction issues, extremely low grass coverage areas and un-level surface. To solve the extensive weed problem we performed various selective herbicide applications (Targeting sedge weeds, broadleaf weeds, paspalum, winter-grass, crows foot). Once we had the majority of weeds contained we needed to get the turf to a healthy enough state to introduce a pre-emergent herbicide to stop any future weeds from germinating. This process involved a lawn renovation. The renovation helped to relieve compaction, added soil to the existing composition and fed the turf vital professional products to encourage the roots to establish deeper into the profile. The renovation also enabled us to level out the surface. After the renovation was complete we visited the property monthly introducing granular and liquid composts and professional fertilizers, gypsum applications, wetting agent application, pre-emergent herbicide, residual lawn grub control and further professional products. 17 weeks after conducting our first visit we mowed our clients lawn with a cylinder mower.
